The Minority in Parliament have accused the government of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of making moves to influence the 2020 presidential and parliamentary polls in their favour, by appointing individuals with links to the NPP to manage the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana.
President Nana Akufo-Addo, on Monday, 23 July, named Mrs Jean Mensa, Executive Director of the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA), as the new Chair of the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana.
The newly-appointed deputies are a political science lecturer at the University of Ghana, Dr Eric Asare Bossman; Ms Adjoa Esuama Abrefa, a corporate legal practitioner with specialisation in land property acquisition, and Samuel Tettey, Director of Electoral services in charge of elections at the Electoral Commission.
Commenting on the development, the Minority Spokesperson on Communications, A.B.A. Fuseini, told Class91.3FM's parliamentary correspondent Ekow Annan that: “We have no doubt in our minds that the NPP is in an attempt to pack the Electoral Commission in order to steal the verdict of 2020 because they are so hopelessly uninspiring and many Ghanaians are ready to boot them out”.
He said the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) “had problems with the IEA (Institute of Economic Affairs) at some point in time and had to boycott the IEA under her patronage, so, we have issues with this, regarding the credentials of Ms Mensa.”
“Even Bossman, they have made statements to the effect that they are sympathetic to the NPP and there is no doubt about that,” he added.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Sagnarigu constituency further accused the government of hastening “to bundle the commissioners out and then go ahead and immediately appoint people of their liking to those positions”.

This`s no news once NDC schemed to win and lose so will NPP scheme to win and lose. Thank you
THIS NDC THINK GOVERNANCE IS ABOUT PROVERBS HE THINKS AND DRINKS RURAL AND VERY DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND PROVERBS, NDC IS A PARTY TRYING VERY HARD TO DEFINE ITSELF.
INDEED, SOME MP'S DO NOT DESERVE TO BE CALLED "HONORABLE". GHANA DESERVES BETTER, BIGGER & GREATER MINDS TO MOVE TO OUR NEXT LEVEL. LONG LIVE GHANA.
Ndc who are you fighting for, your own self? then you will rot in opposition! No sensible Ghanaian is talking for you the same old trash are on air polluting it with their st*nky and bad breath. Thank God, Ghanaians are discerning and ndc are dancing to their own tune. Whether ndc like it or not, whether they are in loggerheads with Jean Mensah AHO?F3 dua or not, ndc is gone and a thing of the past. Ndc will only resurrect if intellectuals decide to be with these foo***ools, but who want to be used and dumped by these kriminals? their end has come. Why are ndc even opposing the new EC boss since they've been instructed by their CEO the one who keeps records in their party Asiedu Nketiah to boycott the Ghana Card registration which is the main source of ID to vote? so what is their beef ? 2020 elections are going to be without ndc because they've conceded defeat already and it's koko for the NPP and if they like they should try any unrest and they will regret and find it hard to live in Ghana. All those who brought unrest into their countries in Africa are in exile so bring it on and we see who will feel uncomfortable living in Ghana. You can't bring war and still live with us and call for peace and reconciliation, and expect Ghanaians to vote for a war party, mo'abodam papa ! you think Ghana is for you? which of you in the ndc had his family member being part of those who lost their lives for GOLD COAST now GHANA? mo'abodam papa ! If you can't take it relocate in peace before the war you calling catches you up.God knows why he made Ghana peaceful, because if the call for war ndc is wishing happens they will be the most losers and it will be difficult for them to be part of Ghana and Ghana ever coming together again and we can't destroy Ghana because of some us*less entities, some lazy foo**ools, some nonentities, some hateful and jealous anti-Christ and ungodly people. Ndc can go to Zambia who cares !
Now Kwame Sefa Kayi is comparing NDC action with NPP but not long ago during NDC time, his chorus was "Do we have to continue like that". Today, he is citing examples and comparing. Best journalist indeed.
THE NDC's evil deeds are eating them up. They understand what rigging elections mean so they are damn scared of every move. They should remember that they were beaten to their own game even when their collaborator Charlotte was in charge. The game is now going to be fair and the NDC knows that ends their fortunes. THEY'VE REALLY NEVER WON ANY ELECTIONS IN THIS COUNTRY, but for their rigging. The real time is HERE!
NDC thinks we dont know that Charlotte Osei the ****barred word*** who gave herself freely to John Mahama. They think we dont know that Charlot the ****barred word*** stood as an NDC Parliamentary candidate in the Nzema area!!!!
