Former Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports in the erstwhile John Mahama administration, Joseph Yamin has described President Akufo-Addo’s nomination of Mrs. Jean Adukwei Mensa and 3 others to steer the affairs of the Electoral Commission as a disappointment.
According to him, President Akufo-Addo and the NPP preach virtue and practice vice as they condemned President John Mahama and the NDC for not engaging in broader consultation in the nomination of the former EC boss, Madam Charlotte Osei.
He said the NPP also failed to consult other political parties on the choice of Mrs Jean Adukwei Mensa and her deputies.
Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, Joseph Yamin without proof averred that the persons that the President has nominated are members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) who are bias towards the ruling government.
“Now Akufo-Addo with the same opportunity to appoint the EC boss went straight ahead to name people who are known in the political circles as NPP members to man the Electoral Commission; on what basis did Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP criticise the nomination of Charlotte Osei?”
“So Nana Akufo-Addo could not find anybody better in the NPP who in public does not show a bit political bias but with the same qualification to replace Charlotte Osei and the other deputies? Everybody knows the bias of the Political Science lecturer, Dr. Bossman as he can stay in his room to conduct a survey to declare NPP winner of an election,” he alleged.
However, he said President Akufo-Addo has shown he does not have the interest of Ghanaians at heart; “everything he is doing is in his own interest and not in the interest of Ghanaians”.
He added that the President can even appoint his wife, Rebecca Akufo-Addo to head the EC and the NDC will win the 2020 elections.
He maintained that winning an election is not about who is appointed to head the EC, but has to do with the work the NDC will do to convince Ghanaians.
“The work of the EC boss is to declare the winner in an election and she can only declare what is before her and we will work to the extent that Mrs. Jean Mensa will declare NDC winner as Madam Charlotte Osei did in 2016 elections,” he stated.

***barred word*** Joseph Yamin
So WHAT are NDC's problems? Elections are won at the polling stations, thanks to Atuguba!
SHUT-UP, you disappointed Arab
Lets think far, Akufo-Addo can appoint his relatives to any position and they can even be number 100 cousins so what is their problem? Please allow the man to do what is right, his expertise in doing what is right is well known. Please read about Human relations and you will be surprised about yours.
I just cant understand the NDC. I remember some time back Mr. Asiedu Nketia was suggesting that if there is a delay in electing EC heads there may be chaos in Ghana. . . . Now there is a steady fasttrack of it and the NDC is complaining?Asem berba dabi
The president will rather appoint your Fulani father to head the EC.Naaniama
THIS FULANI LEBANESE GHANAIAN RESIDENT IS BECOMING UNBECOMING IN THIS COUNTRY. THESE ARE THE FOOLSSS NDC IS NURTURING IN THIS COUNTRY. AFTER BEING BANNED FROM DOING GALAMSEY AT MPATUAM AREA WHAT IS LEFT IS TO COME BACK TO POLITICS. YOU FAILED AS A MI MINISTER ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. YOU BETTER PREPARE YOURSELF TO LIVE IN OPPOSITION FOR LONG AND STOP THE ***barred word*** NOISE. YOU GUYS ARE CONFUSED BUNCH OF CRIMS IN THIS COUNTRY
I think president should consider cancelling the appointment of of EC at this time, and rather open vacancy for any qualified Ghanaian candidate who is not known in political circles, also the age and educational limit must be taking into account. After receiving applications all political parties currently active should be represented for interview and selection process, after arriving at one, two or three most qualified candidates.. then the final selection should be with the president.
I am still wondering what NDC is trying to arrive at. I recollect NPP complaining about Charlotte Osei but because they worked hard, Charlotte Osei had no choice but to declare NPP the winner because that was before her. You still have that arrogant posture which made you lose the elections successfully. Go to the ground and work and stop granting interviews in the comfort of your home.
HMMMM. WE HEAR .
