NDC MP for Odododiodio, Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, has said former President John Mahama is already showing signs of being a different man ahead of his bid to return to power on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Mr. Vanderpuye noted the Mr. Mahama is now taking advise from NDC elders like the Ahwoi brothers and Capt. Kojo Tsikata.
Mr. Mahama was also seen to have met with former President Jerry Rawlings a day before he declared his bid for the presidency again.
Mr. Vanderpuye explained on The Big Issue that these were indications Mr. Mahama was taking the Kwesi Botchway report on the NDC’s disastrous election 2016 seriously.
“There are some of the things that we captured under the Kwesi Botchwey committee that were outside the realm pertaining to his Presidency, his personality, what people were saying of him, why people voted against him and those ones were related to him so we handed it over to him.”
“I can assure you that before he took this decision [to contest for President], there has been very wide consultation with… some of these perceived elders who were sidelined, pushed back and all that.”
Mr. Vanderpuye also said all the NDC elders that backed late-President John Atta Mills are also actively involved with Mr. Mahama.
“He has been advised on certain things to do and as a human being, as humble and respectful as he is, he has listened to the elders, he has taken steps to make sure, that if those things are what led to that humiliating defeat, he is ready [to change],” the MP said.
Mahama’s declaration
Mr. Mahama said he owed God and the good people of Ghana the greatest responsibility of recapturing power from the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He made the remarks in a brief message posted on Facebook, after he officially sent his letter of intent to the party on Thursday, to contest the primaries of the NDC.
“Our collective victory in 2020 will end the increasing hardships, expand the base of our economy, create more sustainable jobs, ensure shared prosperity for all, and pursue good governance including peace, unity and security.”
“As a servant leader, I have listened with deep respect to the elders of our party, to members of our party and Ghanaians from all walks of life, and I am honoured to avail myself for truthful, transparent, selfless, unifying and dedicated service to the National Democratic Congress, and above all to the good people of Ghana.”
Mr. Mahama joins other high profile candidates within the NDC including the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Sylvester Mensah; Nadowli Kaleo MP, Alban Bagbin.
Other candidates are Dr. Ekwow Spio Garbrah; a former Trade and Industry Minister; Former Vice Chancellor of the University for Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Prof. Joshua Alabi and Cape Coast South MP, and Kweku Ricketts-Hagan.
The NDC has slated December 2018, for the election of its flagbearer for the 2020 presidential election.

Can we allow LORDINA to become 1 Lady again?hmmmmmmmmmm JM is a CONMAN
Mahama has Changed??? Nii Lantey can say that to the Marines. Ghana has come too far for such experimentations with Leopards wanting to wear sheep skin to look attractive again. What at all is it that makes Mahama feel he has an unfinished business deal with Ghanaians? To finish his ***barred word*** spree of state resources with his brothers? We are waiting patiently for him to win the NDC Primaries and Ghanaians will give him the worst defeat ever suffered by a former Presidential Candidate, having earned the unenviable record of being the first sitting President to have lost an election so humiliating.
Mr MP have you observed a cat character closely before ,it's characteristics is engrained. When it is full satisfied it plays with its prey or catch. When it is hungry in humbly and patiently waits for it prey.Once it catches it and eats some and it is satisfied ,it plays with the rest of the prey or catch.A WORD TO THE WISE IS IN THE NORTH.
Ghana is spending almost $200m annually on excess power produced and this was created by Mahama by signing so many power agreement at very high price. Did he listen to elders of the party or it was create loot and share so no elders. This money could have been used for the infrastructures he lied to Ghanaians that his was unprecedented.
Interesting. You have now confirmed our worst fears that in the past Mahama was listening to advise from people like Stan Dogbe, Randy Abbey, Ofosu Kwakye, Omane Boamah etc. neglecting elders like E.T. Mensah, Alban Bagbin, the Awhoi's etc. He cannot be trusted. He will surely go back to his old ways when elected.
Look who is talking. fokes do you remember this? Member of Parliament for Odododiodio Constituency, Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, for suggesting that the opposition party will free jailed former GYEEDA boss, Abuga Pele, if the party wins power in the 2020 polls.
WHERE IN THE CONSTITUTION THAT SAY'S THAT MAHAMA CAN CAN BACK AGAIN? WE ARE WAITING FOR THEM TO VOTE FOR MAHAMA AND WE HE WILL MEET US IN COURT. WE WILL CHALLENGE THIS WITH OUR LAST BLOOD IN COURT. A WORD TO A WISE IS ENOUGH.
Should this surprise you-Ghanaians? Ask Nii Lante, if he changed along with Mahama and if you have ninety-four parliamentarians vouching for his come back then this should tell the crop of parliamentarians representing us. Nii Lante must change too.
Mahama cannot take us for a ride . How could mahama think he can do experiment on Ghanaians ? He should go and do that in his hometown . Mahama wasn't a suitable candidate in the firat place . He got a cheap opportunity due to the demise of Prof so he shouldn't take it as an automatic card to come and display jokes . Matured politicians like Bagbin have been around so if mahama knows what is good for him he should back off .He is a joke
DONT BE ***barred word***. GIVE HIM THE POWER AND SEE. DONT BE ***barred word***
