Energy Minister John Peter Amewu, has served notice to all Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of state institutions under his ministry that he will not hesitate to sack them if they fail to listen to him.
Mr. Amewu issued the warning after CEOs of the Volta River Authority (VRA), Ghana National Gas Company (Ghana Gas), and the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), failed to show up for a scheduled visit to the Aboadze Terminal Plant, even though they had been informed ahead of time.
The Minister could not understand why the CEOs asked their respective heads of department to represent them instead of being there themselves.
He wondered what could be more important than taking a decision to prevent government from losing US$40million every month if the Karpower plant at Tema is not relocated to Aboadze, for which reason he convened the meeting to deliberate over it.
“These CEOs in this country, it is time something is done seriously about them, and for me, I am not going to sit down and work with Chief Executives that will not be prepared to listen to me. Before I am gone, a Chief Executive will go; I am not going to entertain that,” he told the gathering at the programme in the Western Region.
The Energy Minister’s tour also took him to the Tema-Takoradi Interconnection Project which birthed a regulatory and metering station and the Aboadze Power Enclave.
He also visited the Ameri Power Plant which is being run by Metka. His last stop was at the Western Naval base in Sekondi where the facility will finally be stationed.

Technocrats so what? What are they doing with all the knowledge? Mr Amewu we support you 100% fire them if need be.
Hon. Minister. Please, did you really issue that treat to your children occupying the CEO positions. May I humbly request of you to kindly step back, adapt and be a team player, not dictate. Except if you have that much influence to indeed sack all the Ministry's related CEOs appointed by the President. By the way, Hon. Minister, do the CEOs report to their Boards? Hmmm!
I applaud Minister Amewu for sending a correct signal to the CEOs, that if they fail to listen to him he will sack them before he is rather sacked. The CEOs are well paid and they have to be made to deliver their mandates accordingly and responsibly. I have begun to be in love with the honorable Minister Amewu. And rightly so, because I'm contented with the way he is determined not do status quo-duties of Politicians in Ghana in terms of Ministers or Public officials being lax on their responsibilities. I can only encourage him to tow that line of responsibility and hard work and he will definitely succeed.
Amewu should know that this men are more powerful than him in NPP. He should tone down or will soon see his back. He is there because of regional balance. He shouldn't joke with the power brokers.
I ALWAYS SAY A LOT OF OUR PROBLEMS AND COLLAPSE OF OR UNDER PERFORMING OF STATE INSTITUTIONS ARE AS A RESULT OF THE INCOMPETENCE AND WICKEDNESS OF A LOT OF THESE CEO'S
I think Mr. Amewu needs to see the President and talk about this issue very seriously. This is because KK Sarpong of GNPC will never obey or report to the Minister properly. He will go straight to the President and tell him things that should go through the Minister. But I know God is with Mr. Peter Amewu. Amewu is the number one performer in this government. Because of this they will like to bring him down but they will not succeed. Mr. Amewu! Emmanuel .......
AMEWU YOU ARE SPOT ON. GHANA IS IN A HURRY AND IF THESE CEOs FEEL TOO COMFORTABLE ON THEIR SEATS DEAL WITH THEM. FOR ONCE I SEE SERIOUSNESS IN LEADERSHIP IN GHANA. NANA DO SAME TO YOUR NUMEROUS SWOLLEN HEADED APPOINTEES. BRAVO AMEWU.
Thanks Amewu you are our future vice president. Keep fighting for Ghana.
these so called chief executives are causing the down fall of the ministers. So what were the so called chief executives doing in their offices? they are very lazy and l tell you, that is why our country is where it is today.
Mr. action man Amewu, please, do not spare them. If you spare them, they will cause your down fall. Weed them out if they disobey your directives.
