Deputy Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum has admitted that the E-block buildings constructed by the erstwhile John Mahama administration has been helpful as far as education is concerned.
It is trite knowledge that the NPP had concerns with the policy behind the construction of the blocks, accusing the then ruling party of executing the project through a piecemeal approach like a cocoa farmer would build their house.
The Mahama government promised to build about 200 new structures to expand facilities and access at the senior high school level.
It was only able to put up about 40 of the school blocks, which were christened E-Blocks.
The Deputy Minister who was having a one-on-one interaction with host of Peace FM morning show ‘Kokrokoo’, Kwami Sefa-Kayi said “anyone who constructs building for education is good…it is infrastructure and it will be helpful in implementing the double track system”.
He however added that “we are now strategising on how to make those sited in remote places useful”.
Dr Adutwum also debunked reports that the uncompleted E-Block structures left by the previous administration has been abandoned.
According to him, the Akufo-Addo led government has completed 13 of such buildings.
