Former President John Mahama has reiterated that his erstwhile administration’s focus was to expand health infrastructure amongst others to create jobs.
He said “When we were in government, our concentration was on expanding the health facilities so that we could employ more health workers, because if you don’t create new opportunities by improving on infrastructure, jobs cannot be created.”
He added “That is why we had the policy of expanding infrastructure by building more hospitals, Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds at various communities, as well as polyclinics to create more jobs and improve health care delivery across the country.”
Mr Mahama said this at Nalerigu in the Nalerigu/Gambaga Constituency of the Northern Region when visited the area as part of his five-day campaign tour of the Region, canvassing for votes from delegates of the National Democratic Congress to lead the Party as its Flagbearer for the 2020 presidential elections.
Mr Mahama, who also visited Bunkpurugu, Yunyoo and Walewale Constituencies, emphasized the need for unity among the rank and file of the Party, to work together for victory in the 2020 general election, saying “We are one people and must speak with one voice, because poverty does not take into consideration the cultural diversity among us.”
The Former President and his entourage later paid a courtesy call on the Overlord of the Mamprugu Traditional Area, Naa Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga, to inform him about their presence in the traditional area as well as seek his blessings.

I think you really need common sense
Mr Mahamah you are building your house so your children must not go to school?Your ideal of governing is below the belt ,you see the best is to give someone a chance to lead NDC ,Ghana need leaders who can think outside the box, Sir your type of govern???? ,Do Ghana a favor and NDC good by opted out. If this is still your ideal of lifting Ghana above,i bet to differ
What is the meaning of infrastructure. Give examples of Infrastructure. List your Infrastructure built up. Relate to economic development. Foooolllllliiiiiiisshhhh man
Hahahaha can you ever finish building the infrastructure of a Nation? I now know why you left four batches of trained nurses unemployment! This man again as president of this great nation of ours? It should never happen!
Are you still talking about infrastructure? Kindly go and look for your green book. The ghost projects you put there. You do not have shame.
It is this same thinking that makes the NDC lose the argument all the time. When you're managing an economy, you must think wholistically. If you want to finish buidling infrastructure before you employ health workeres, by the time you finish, those who in the meantime trained as health workers would have died of hunger along with their families. Same for Free SHS. Assuming it took you the 8 years NDC was in power to "finish" building all the schools we needed (and we know you could not finish in 8 years), 800,000 people would have been released unto the streets with no future; a whopping 800,000 people, MR Mahama! Managing an economy is no child's play where you finish playing "chass keley", then you go on to start "pee lolo". An economy is made of several conveyor belts all passing at an alarming speed before your eyes. You need higher system-thinkers to do that kind of a job. Not this "finish-with-infrastructure-start-employment" mindest. It's clearly above what the NDC can handle!
And then?
.... add “ and triple or quadruple the cost of infrastructure “
