Dr Gideon Boako, Spokesperson to the Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, has conceded Ghanaians are going through challenging times, but stresses that it is a result of the mess created by the Mahama-led NDC government.
He has however given the assurance that with the injection of the $2billion from the Sinohydro deal, the country's economy will become buoyant with massive infrastructural projects, the order of the day.
" . . most road networks across the country will be fixed, some will be repaired, whiles new ones are going to be built with flyovers.
"Our economy is also going to receive a major boost when the $2bn capital is injected. This government is on track and we going to fix every mess created by the erstwhile Mahama regime even if Ghanaians give us a four year mandate," he confidently stated.
Speaking on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia programme, he added the NPP government is focused and will not be distracted by what the opposition says or does.
According to him, the success chalked by the current administration is quite remarkable as no government has within its first two years, rolled out better social and economic policies than what is being witnessed.
"No government, not even former President Kuffour government achieved what he we achieved in our last 2years.
"Under former President John Agyekum Kuffour, most major policies like the Health insurance, the metro mass and other interventions were introduced during his last two (2) years in office.
"But looking at the Nana Addo led NPP government, most major policies have been implemented to alleviate the suffering and hardship parents go through to even access quality education for their children. We have been able to achieve more than what the Mahama led NDC regime could not achieve with its four to eight years in power," he added.
Former President John Mahama who is seeking re-election, recently took a swipe at the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), for what he says is their penchant for lies in order to win power.
He noted that, after assuming power for nearly half of its four-year term; those promises are yet to be fulfilled, while Ghanaians continue to face hardships in their daily living.
“You can engage in, and tell all the lies to win political power, when you are in government the reality of peoples' lives will expose you,” the former president tweeted.
But Dr. Boako advised the former president to stay away from contesting the 2020 elections since he (Mahama) has nothing new to bring to the table.
"If former President Mahama was my brother, I would have advised him to stay away and not contest the 2020 elections because, he has nothing new to offer Ghanaians.
"It will further dent his image and reputation as a revered statesman," he added.
Hard times
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo recently admitted that the economy of Ghana is going through some trying times, settling the political controversy about the state of the economy.
The President, however, dismissed concerns that these difficulties amount to a crisis; assuring his audience that the government is on top of the situation.
Speaking to the Ghanaian Community in New York, USA, Mr Akufo-Addo attributed the difficulties in the system to the “dramatic increase in crude oil prices” and the strengthening of the US dollar

The administration is doing the right thing by engaging the private sector to run the factory, not gov't. Yes, the factory will work and the cedi will continue to strengthen by the measures and policies as well as interventions the gov't has put in place to ensure, there is value addition to our raw materials in this case sugarcane. The only problem here, is the, raw material to feed the factory which the Minister of Trade said would require about 6000 acres minimum to produce which is sugarcane, somehow was not factored into the equation. Somebody suggested we should import the sugarcane, which actually does not make the cedi strong against the dollar, because it is subject to the same forex dynamics we are confronted with which we are all complaining is causing the depreciation of the cedi. So we get the land, we plant the sugarcane from improved varieties which produce good yields,, we source from outgrowers as well, and feed the factory 24/7, and produce the sugar that we want and stop the importation of over $200 million worth of sugar into the country. There's no easy way to getting the factory working. That is the process and under the NPP, it will be done right. There is no ***barred word*** in that at all, but plain simple commonsense which unfortunately, seems to have eluded the Mahama NDC administration. response to Kwabena on Ghanaweb on a comment on the article $35 million metal plates left to rot at Komenda sugar factory.
Your Owusu Bempah is not form God, but from hell. You guys will be laughing from the wrong side of your mouth very soon. Group of Arm robbers
Fair deal about the money coming from China. But my concern is the numerous and huge amounts of money we hear have been stolen and being stolen in this country everyday. Don't you think if all such monies are collected and stringent measures put in place to check stealing, there would be no need to go to China? I always get annoyed when I hear stories of money stolen and nothing done about it. I think the media should spare us the misfortune of hearing about these stories, because they amount to nothing. Since nobody is apprehended and made to pay the money he/she is supposed to have stolen, the canker will continue to eternity. I think stealing of money in Ghana is more serious than blood cancer. Everybody is involved.
At least NPP are using state resources wisely. NDC was sharing cars to John Dumelo, Afia Schwarzenegger, Kumawood artist. Not to mention Wayome chopping state money, etc. If you spend the money on Free SHS its much better. Mahama will never come to the presidency, the 'nations prophet', Owusu Bempah has prophesized from God, Amen.
Stop lying here, NPP can never borrow near what Mahama borrowed.
Leave the NPP. One cannot imagine that this NPP in govt was the one in opposition that made Ghanaians believe they could turn ghana into heaven within two years. Their non-performance so far in govt is mind - bugling. It is indeed true that "Not all that Glitters is Gold".
So in your wildest dreams you are fixing Mahama's problems??? Atta Mills and Mahama built Atuabo with 1Billion dollars from China. You took 2.5billion in your first year in office. You don't even have a well to show for it. As at now you have borrowed as much as the NDC borrowed in 8 years!! Are you dumb or just think Ghanaians are blind? Please if you have nothing to add to Mahama's legacy just keep mute and let your four years play out and GET OUT of our lives!! LOSERS!
NPP HAS A DIFFERENT MEANING OF INCOMPETENCE. HOWEVER, THEY MUST BE REMINDED WITHOUT ANY AMBIGUITY THAT THEY (NPP) CANNOT RIGHT ON THE BACK OF THE TRICK THEY USED IN 2016( THE INCOMPETENCE & CORRUPTION TAG) ON JOHN MAHAMA TO WIN THE 2020 ELECTIONS. WHAT AT ALL HAVE YOU ACHIEVED IN 2 YEARS THAT EVERY GHANAIAN IS CRYING OF UNPRECEDENTED HARDSHIPS. IMPORT DUTIES, EXCHANGE RATE, PETROLEUM PRICES HAVE HIGH ROCKETED, UNFULFILLED CAMPAIGN PROMISES, NEPOTISM AT ITS PEAK, CORRUPTION,UNDUE INTERFERENCE IN THE WORK OF PUBLIC AND CIVIL SERVICES, INHUMAN AND RUSHED FREE SHS IMPLEMENTATION ETC ARE INDEED YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS.JOHN WAS INCOMPETENT,YET WITHIN 3 YEARS BECAUSE HIS FIRST YEAR WAS USED IN COURT CHALLENGING YOUR ***barred word*** ELECTION PETITION HE WAS ABLE TO BUILD CIRCLE INTERCHANGE, KASOA INTERCHANGE, RIDGE HOSPITAL, LEGON TEACHING HOSPITAL, KEJETIA MARKET PROJECT, 6 DISTRICT HOSPITALS IN ASHANTI REGION, MILITARY HOSPITAL IN ASHANTI REGION,COUNTLESS CHPS COMPOUNDS AND HOSPITALS ACROSS THE COUNTRY, POWER PROJECTS TO END DUMSOR,BOLGATANGA REGIONAL HOSPITAL, WA REGIONAL HOSPITAL, HO AIRPORT, EXPANSION OF ACCRA AND KUMASI AIRPORTS, CONSTRUCTION OF MAJOR ROADS, COMPLETION OF 53 E-BLOCK COMMUNITY DAY SENIOR HIGH SCHOOLS, BUILDING OF NEW HEALTH INSTITUTIONS ETC ETC. IT IS BETTER TO BE CORRUPT OR INCOMPETENT AND IS ABLE TO DO ALL THE THINGS I HAVE ENUMERATED THAN TO SELF ACCLAIM COMPETENCE AND INCORRUPTIBILITY AND BORROW OVER 40 BILLION CEDIS IN TWO YEARS WITHOUT ANY TANGIBLE THING EVEN A CHPS COMPOUND TO SHOW.
WELL SPOKEN DR BOAKO.THIS NPP GOVERNMENT ARE FULL OF SENSIBLE PEOPLE.YOU HAVE REALLY SPOKEN SENSE.
You guys are loosing site of Mahama's tactics. He has no vision to solve the problems and help resolve NDC so in order for him to run away from that, he takes on the obvious route, hit targets so as to help he him be in the news all the time. Your continues reply to him is helping him be in the face of NDC members yet he is not addressing the problems thereof and solutions. When he comes back again seeking attention and hype, stay silence and ask him to spell out his vision in resolving the party issues, let him work through the party to win the contest (not by using government to do so) before he can challenge at the level of contender and that is the only time you reply to him directly. He is using a silly tactics in running away from answering questions to their members. He is a con man who rattles words to deceive people. This country deserve knowledgeable political parties with daring yet great master mind approach in solving our problems not con men who are affiliated to political parties to dupe the people.
