President Nana Akufo-Addo and his former ally, former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko may still have an axe to grind against each other.
A video of the two former friends greeting has gone viral on social media and people are talking.
Akufo-Addo who attended the one week observation of the late brother of Boakye Agyarko, Ayawaso West Wuogon MP Emmanuel Agyarko could not look into the eyes of his former minister. The former Energy Minister appeared to also feel irritated by the handshake of Akufo-Addo, merely extending his hand shabbily.
Readers will recall how then Minister of Energy, Mr Boakye Agyarko was relieved of his position, following the controversy surrounding the review of the Ameri power deal. A press statement signed and issued by Mr Eugene Arhin, Director of Communications at the Presidency in August said President Akufo-Addo by a letter dated August 6, 2018, “relieved the Minister of Energy, Mr Boakye Agyarko, of his position, with immediate effect.”
“President Akufo-Addo has asked Mr Boakye Agyarko to hand over his office to the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Mr John Peter Amewu, who will act temporarily as Minister of until a substantive appointment is made,” the statement said.
“The President wishes Mr Boakye Agyarko well in his future endeavours,” the statement added.
Mr Agyarko has since been silent and unseen until the demise of his brother.
President Akufo-Addo extolled the loyalty of the Agyarko family to the Dankwa-Dombo-Busia tradition, right from their father the Senior Agyarko to the current generation, saying the late MP, Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko’s death is a loss for the NPP as a pillar has fallen. The President said this when he paid the family a visit.
Kyeremateng Agyarko, who is the brother of the former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko was formerly Chief Executive Officer of the Food and Drugs Board and has been NPP MP for Ghana’s most elite constituency since 2012.
Mr Emmanuel Kwabena Kyeremateng Agyarko, died at the age of 60.

Eei eeei everything is criticising and politics
The reporter has ill motive. He will rot with ndc
Is that how to greet someone who is bereaved. There is definitely something wrong somewherr
You have shown the true colors of npp members. Even when the thing is white they still say its black. From nana addo to barwumia to the foot soldier all deceits and falsehood that they display. Every wise person knows that in this case since boakye agyarko had worked with nana addo as his energy minister and his blood brother kyeremanteng is dead, he should just at least hug him to say one ir two thing to console him. Nana addo is either a fuuuull or is just a terribly wicked man. If he was able to hug Rawlings why couldn't he do it with boakye agyarko. And this bitter man is pretending to be a Christian considering the building of national cathedral all because he wants from votes from Christians. Ghanaians can see through his deceits.
People are funny oooo..... the question is is this the first time they met after the MP died ??? No!!! The president visited the family at home so this is not the place to be hugging and kissing each other ....lol
Joe, I think the reporter may have a point here. We know how politicians exchange pleasantries in such meetings as this. we cannot be so sure, but anything is possible with this video.
The one who filed this report is sick I guess. The video did not show any avoidance. The man was greeting everyone at such a funeral and you expect him to carry him at the back before knowing he love him or what. Let’s be circumspect in our reportage since such things bring disgrace to the nation as a whole of which you are part.
You could see he was greeting everyone quickly with the last hand at the back.It takes two to tango so if I offer my hand and is not taken your own problem.Number 2 bereavement times are not times for sharing pleasantries if he had been laughing while greeting same people would say the president was insensitive. Number 3 Because his opposition want to make a case at all cost they must surely get something. I rate this as a mere making a molehill look like a mountain. Number 4 there are many people even those who brought this video having serious issues with others but want to highlight somebody’s beef shame unto you Nation wreckers. Can kofi Adoma meet the Joy fm boss and smile immediately?
any right thinking person will know there is some problem between them. is this how you greet a bereaved person
