Chairperson for the National Commission for Civic Education [NCCE], Josephine Nkrumah has said no matter the intelligence received as the National Security claim there was no need for interference from them in the by-election.
According to her, reports and comments gathered surrounding the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-elections depicts the security men did not come with the motive to protect citizens, but to do the other things according to directives given them from a superior.
“ . . I think at this point it is fair to say it was a really boss–job, there is enough evidence to suggest that people who were meant to protect us became an intimidating actor, they became people who begun to assault others including an MP," he said.
Madam Nkrumah in an interview on Multi TV's political discussion programme, ‘News file’ proved the approach used by the deployed security to supervise the on-going elections is unacceptable and uncalled for because she believes it has put fear in citizens.
“And nothing at all warrants that kind of approach, it has put fear in the people of Ghana and we are beginning to understand the essence of our consistent statements that we have to take a position to stamp-out the political thoughts that our democracy is being associated with now,” he said.
She said the incident is a serious one especially when the international world have raised concerns and must be treated as such.
“ . . for the UNDP to come out with a statement, it is a loaded and very significant turn of event that nobody should underestimate,” she said.

This NDC footsoldier calling herself NCCE boss, has found her voice...a beneficiary of Mahama's diabolical last minute appointments. Same as the CHRAJ boss Joseph Whittal (who is out there defending Mahama instead of doing his job). Hypocrites! When Ursula Owusu was assaulted, where were you? when Gabby Asare Okere-Darko was beaten up, where were you? Get lost, you vermin! Yes,the violence during the AWW by-election was bad and unacceptable, but the hypocritical noise from you is nauseating!
