Mr. Delali Kwasi Brempong, NDC presidential candidate during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election has debunked claims that vigilante groups are formed by political parties.
The issue of vigilantism has bedeviled this country with various groups and individuals calling on political parties to disband the groups which are often made up of heavily built men, and for security operatives to deal with them when they go against the law.
However, appearing before the Emile Short Commission, Wednesday, Delali Brempong said the vigilante groups are formed by ‘political mafias’ and not the political parties.
"The vigilantes are owned by kingpins within the party . . . I don’t believe NDC as a party, or NPP as a party will endorse such a thing but there are some notorious, mafia within the political parties who are using these people to do their bidding and to cause confusion," he indicated.
Meanwhile, he has, therefore, urged the police to be up and doing to arrest and deal with these vigilante groups.

Common sense MUST prevail and that is all. Unfortunately some of these things are the legacies of the coup regimes which we need to do away with. The NDC must join this fight rather than wait so that they can cite some of these unfortunate incidents to justify their future actions.
Well said but I think that he must also admit that he was part of what happened. He knows everything about vigilantism in political groups so why did he allow those huldrums to come to his house in the first place?
No party has monopoly over violence; this is my personal advice to our two political violent parties. One party is not going to be in power forever so what is the need to be violent when you're in power? Think about revenge when the table turns. We don't need this circle of violence in Ghana. It only creates insecurity, fear and panic in Ghana. Disband all your political criminal violent vigilante groups so we can have free, fair and peaceful elections we can all accept the outcome period.
