Member of Parliament [MP] for Tema West Constituency, Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah, has said that Justice Willam Atuguba’s 2012 election ruling at the Supreme Court forced the NPP to bring on board 'Vigilante Groups' to help them become more beady-eyed at the polling stations.
In an interview on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ discussion segment, Carlos Ahenkorah disclosed that the ruling party cannot deny the fact that they have vigilante groups who operate on their behalf, but they were forced by Justice Willam Atuguba’s ruling after the 2012 election court case to have such groups on board to help them at the polling stations.
“We are not saying we don’t have party vigilante’s, all we are saying is that they are not part of our party structures, the NDC’s style of winning elections at the polling grounds made us start this process to help us have tight security presence on the election grounds for fairness as Justice Atuguba advised . . . ,” he said.
Explaining further, he said party vigilantes have been very helpful to the party therefore they cannot disown them anywhere.
“Party vigilantes have been very helpful to us after Justice William Atuguba told us elections are won at polling stations and not in his court, therefore we cannot disown them anywhere,” the Tema West MP said.
While opining that both the NPP and the NDC should admit and heed to President Akufo-Addo's call to disband them, he however, wondered what would become the future of these young men, especially those without any form of formal education.
“ . . What will be left for a person to engage in to keep him/her active after spending more years of his age at home due to his/her parents inability to pay school bills?” he quizzed.

Insults will not solve the problem, the solution will be to minimize human involvement in our voting like is done in the US and UK, no matter what it costs. We have started at the ports and we can extend to voting. free consultancy
I dont blame you Mr. legislature. I blame the ***barred word*** beings who accepted to offer their lives to protect ballot boxes to offer you job.Wise up young men.
Vigilante groups must go - accepted. After disbandment, who will protect the ballot boxes for NDC and NPP? We know from 2012 election petition that the police couldn't do that for various reasons - short staffed, lacked equipment etc.And the supreme court has said that elections are won at the polling stations - meaning it would not cancel any results declared by EC even if it was rigged. I think Ghana should avoid the events the led to the 2012 petition at all cost. A repeat may not end as peacefully as the 2012 petition did. So while you guys talk about disbandment of vigilante groups you should also talk about how to prevent repeat of 2012 election problems.
You're talking about the lives some unreasonable loyalist to the course of your party, asking what fate awaits them. Do you think of the numerous unemployed graduates in the country? You guys deserve to be thumbed out for you ridiculous way of thinking. Wise up NPP, Ghana is not for you alone.
What an influential argument. This one be minister of state. Is this all the noise you were making , you have the men, you have the men
I salute you Honorable for speaking the truth and fact. For the system to have peace and have it as independence of country look for, the legislature (parliament), the executive, Forces, and the Almighty Judiciary must be vert truthful. Lies and corruption in the system has led to all these vigilantism. Have people checked the vigilantes at Public services commission where the directors and executives have hijacked state institution as theirs recruiting family members, cronies and girl friends? Talk about the police service vigilantism. Is it because these guys do not work in any of the state institution hence being noted as the vigilantis? Nana Addo indeed has a big problem to solve. The Hawks, Invisible forces, Azoka etc are behaving these ways all because of the lapses in the whole leadership front of the state. It is not just the acts of political parties that has culminated these groups. the leadership of all sectors of the public played a major role giving this rebellious babies. Change must come from all sectors of the economy if we really want to eliminate vandalism, vigilantism and illegal groups. There must be hidden cameras at all recruitment centers of the state and the canker would stop forever.
You guys do not see the seriousness of this militialism today hence this defense........Go and ask Liberia, Rwanda, Congo and the rest......When it starts, it will know no party colours ooooo....Yoooo!!!
Ei, these are ministers in Ghana? The way they reason is so elementary. Ah, a whole minister saying that because atuguba didn't rule in their favor that's why they formed militia groups. These are nana addo's wisemen?
but what he is saying is the fact. NDC has always used its Vigilante groups to steal ballot box and manipulate vote counts, especially, in their strong holds and Volta regions.
Do these people listen to themselves?
