The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has presented a total of eight (8) vehicles to the Western Regional Co-ordinating Council, to help facilitate the smooth take off of the newly created region.
The vehicles include 3 Nissan Patrol SUVs, and five pickup vehicles, were presented to the Western North Regional Minister, Hon. Kingsley Aboagye Gyedu.
Speaking at a durbar of Chiefs at Sefwi Wiawso, capital of the Western North Region, on Wednesday, 10th April, 2019, President Akufo-Addo noted that the pledge he made in the run-up to the 2016 elections “was not to win votes from you, but I was convinced that, with the Western North Region, development would be accelerated than before.”
The President noted that “I have not changed my mind; I still stand by my word. That is why I am here today, to see how we can, together, work to create a Western North Region that will bring the needed development.”
Having earlier inspected the site for the construction of the administration block for the Western North Region, President Akufo-Addo noted that, already, the head of the Local Government Service, Nana Ato Arthur, has selected the staff to work at the regional coordinating council.
To the pioneer local government staff, he urged them “to work hard and to begin on a sound footnote, so that everybody will know that they came to do their best for the Western North region”.
Touching on some roads of interest to the Omanhene of Sefwi Wiawso, Katakyie Kwasi Bumagama II, the President noted the first section of the Benkyemaa Junction to Osei Kojokrom, i.e. from Benkyemaa Junction to Adwoafua, has the procurement process for bitumen ongoing. The second 16-kilometre stretch, i.e. from Adwoafua to Nsam, is undergoing bitumen surfacing, with the second treatment soon to be done. The third section, the Nsam-Osei Kojokrom, i.e. 24 km road, is incorporated in the $2 billion Sinohydro deal.
Additionally, the first 15 kilometres of the Sefwi-Wiawso Akontombra road, President Akufo-Addo assured, is undergoing the procurement processes, with the second section to Akontombra already under construction.
He assured further that the contract for the 28 kilometre Akontombra to Dadieso road will be awarded this year, and, by the 2020, the road will be constructed, with the Enchi-Elubo road also placed under the $2 billion Sinohydro facility.
“Your roads are dear to my heart, and I am working on them. If we came this evening, it is for you to know that you did not vote for me in vain. Now, you have your own region, and we are determined to ensure that your developmental needs are accelerated,” President Akufo-Addo noted.
He urged residents of Western North and Western Region to “live in harmony, since we are all part of one united Ghana.”
Earlier in the day, President Akufo-Addo cut the sod for the construction of the main campus of the Bibiani College of Health Sciences, made a brief stop at Ntrentrenso where he inspected a cocoa rehabilitation farm.
The President also inspected a newly constructed Business Resource Centre at Sefwi Wiawso.

This things you see went though tender so please advice kantaka any time they see this things in the news paper, they should also tender. We are not in NDC time. than you.
SO sad for Ghana and Ghanaian industries. The President claim he is in total support of local businesses but his actions are just opposite. Giving out these 8 vehicles could have been a great avenue to market Kantanka Vehicles, a locally made vehicles. What prevented the President to buy Kantanka vehicles for these assemblies? We must think deep as citizens. YOu keep advocating for made in Ghana goods but your actions and comsumption pattern does not reflect your own blowned trumpet. This could have been a great turning point for Kantanka.
" If I were Mahama, and seeing how Ghana is working WITHIN TWO YEARS, I should be looking for a place to hide. And for the good of Ghana, Mahama, if he loves this country, will allow the NPP to continue the good work". From what you posted simply means that Mahama will win 2020 election. Please read your comment again. If your mother, father, uncle, aunt, brother, sister, friends and yourself are amassing wealth for yourselves, let the people of Ghana speak come 2020. You guys have demonized Mahama in 2016 and the people bought into it, do you think you can use the same strategy in 2020? I doubt it.
svani how far my 10%?
What is even amazing is the boldness with which the NDC talks! If I were Mahama, and seeing how Ghana is working WITHIN TWO YEARS, I should be looking for a place to hide. And for the good of Ghana, Mahama, if he loves this country, will allow the NPP to continue the good work. This is just two years oo, people, two short years! Ghana wasted 8 solid years for nothing!
Ghana working again!! Never again shall we bring NDC back to power!!
Oh, Ghanaians did a VERY GREAT disservice when they voted against Nana Addo in 2008. By this time,we would have gone far ahead. They voted for the CREATE, LOOT & SHARE NDC and they sent us to IMF even after we have discovered oil in commercial quantities. NEVER allow NDC ANYWHERE near power. They shld remain in opposition for a very LOOOOOOOOOG TIME if not FOREVER!
