Private Legal Practitioner, Maurice Ampaw said both the ruling New Patriotic Party [NPP] and the largest opposition party, the National Democratic Congress [NDC] are not ready to fight corruption in the country.
Speaking on NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’, the controversial lawyer noted that corruption will be very difficult to be eradicated.
“I don’t think anyone can fight corruption in this country. People help the parties to come to power so they will surely get their monies back when their party comes to power,” he said.

I even think, African culture makes it harder to fight corruption. Reason: African culture has strong social relationship. So strong to the extent that, we a willing to choose relationship over accountability. Even strangers are willing to defend alleged criminals. Pastors, imams, chiefs, politicians, big men call for watered-down rule of law in order to let an accused person off- the hook. Result of our behavior: we have strong social relationships but poor accountability, indiscipline, corruption, nepotism, tribalism, factionalism. Solution: reinforce civics education in schools; promote accountability in families, churches, mosques, other social groups; raise minimum qualification of police officers to bachelors degree; start jailing people who obstruct justice; high profile cases must be pursued expeditiously. Etc etc. As of now, it is clear that both parties do not want the law to work -especially if the accused person is a politician.
@Nanayaw, none of them has any alternative. All they do is talk talk.
Oh.lawyer, what are your alternative suggestions for crime fighting. You seem to know much but you turn to keep the ideas to yourself, only to keep on highlighting the negatives of a Government. Please do Ghana proud by presenting to us an alternative solutions.
