The Senior Public Affairs Manager of Cocobod, Mr. Fiifi Boafo has advised former President John Dramani Mahama to stop lying to cocoa farmers about the importation of cocoa fertilizers.
He says the former president due to politics has taken a tangent which does not help the agriculture discourse of the country.
Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, he explained that as at now cocobod is still paying for fertilizers that were imported by the NDC under former President John Mahama.
"Monies meant for the payment of those imported fertilizers were embezzled during their administration. Cocobod is still paying for those fertilizers, so if you go round misinforming cocoa farmers, I don’t think you are doing any good to them," he said.
He maintained that the NPP government is committed to improving the life of cocoa farmers and the production of cocoa as a whole.
The flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has described as sheer wickedness President Nana Akufo-Addo’s decision to stop the supply of free fertilizers to cocoa farmers and allow it to expire and dispose of them.
“I feel very sad for our cocoa farmers,” President Mahama said, adding, “we had good plans and started implementing good policies for the cocoa sector”.
He was speaking during an interaction with cocoa farmers and the people of Enchi in the Aowin Constituency of the Western North Region on Tuesday.
According to the former President, the supply of free fertilizer, seedlings and inputs to cocoa farmers led to an increase in the annual yield of cocoa.
“When we started giving out free fertilizers, it was because we realised it will help improve yield, and in the 2016/17 crop year, we recorded 950,000 tons . . . I cannot understand why this government will decide to stop that and sell the fertilisers to the farmers . . . In fact, it is wickedness to leave the fertiliser in warehouses because the farmers cannot and won’t buy them, and throw them away after they expire,” he lamented.

the man is desperate this is just the beginning we r going to hear more lies and propaganda from him
Look at this st0000.p.id boy, Fiifi Boafo. A man of s./.t.raw like you, who was walking to work. Today, you can also drive a car, so you're talking about JM. N/o/ne/sense. A/b0.a Look at him. D[rty A.ni.mal. Kw.a/si/aaa. What is your level of education? Akuffo Addo's c0.r.rup/tion has helped you to eat 3 square mills so you too can also talk some
Who in Ghanaian politics as at now goes round telling lies about Ghana's achievement under this government than the Honourable Alhaji Dr Bawumia. Even die hard supporters are now at cross roads with some of his lies. It is a pity
Don't you have any word to use apart from a statemen? Mahama said," I will not boot but if you boot I will boot". The reply is speak like a statesman. Mahama said,"the suffering in the country is too much". The reply is speak like a statesman. Mahama is saying now that," He feels for cocoa farmers". The reply again is speak like a statesman. What ever the President, John Dramani Mahama said is the truth nothing but the truth. By the way who is this man?
Arrest those who embezzled the money and send them to court for prosecution and if they are found guilty, they should go to jail.
Mr Mahamah is going about with his lies. Recently IMF as the government to reduce the producer price to farmers which the government refused. Meanwhile, he was accusing the government of not increasing the price to farmers. After 2020 you will keep your mouth shut.
This desperate JDM has no shame. During his time, I visited the Sefwi area a number of times on official assignments and the information I gathered from the farmers were that some MPs including Samson Ahi whose house is the talk of the town in Bodi, keep the fertilizers to themselves and only give them out after the season is past. They then share it free to the farmers and claim government has helped them. There were so many complaints from the farmers about their inability to get the fertilizers on time for good yields. Some also claimed if you are not a card bearing member of the NDC you are left out even after the fertilizing season is over and the commodity being shared for free. What does that tell us. It means JDM has no knowledge of cocoa and its production and so today he has the guts to go tell the poor farmers blatant lies as if in his era the farmers even flew inn helicopters to spray their farms. Arrant trash Mr. JDM Please think before you talk. Anyway, Western North is no go area for NDC again.
