Resigned Executive Secretary of the Inspector General Police, Superintendent Peter Lanchene Tuubo on Friday rode a bicycle to the Wa West constituency office of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to submit his forms ahead of the parliamentary primary.
Flanked by his supporters, he was cheered on and seen beaming with smiles as he presented the requisite documents and corresponding banker’s draft to the executives.
Superintendent Peter Lanchene Tuubo is set to contest as National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate in the Upper West Region.
The outspoken cop will have to slug it out with veteran politician and former Minister of Health, Hon Joseph Yiele Chireh.
His decision to quit policing for politics has been heavily criticized by Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary select committee on defense and interior Collins Owusu Amankwah.
“If a police constable or lance corporal quits active service for politics the effect is very minimal compared somebody who has gone through the ranks to the extent he is an Executive Secretary to the IGP calls for concern. It means any decision taken by the IGP in relation to the security of the state and the police service he was part of it. This makes it quite scary”, he revealed in an interview monitored by MyNewsGh.com.
The lawmaker for Manhyia North avers that many will wonder when such a decision was haboured and it may affect the neutrality of the Ghana Police Service and erode the successes chalked over the years.

Will he continue to ride bicycle to parliament when he wins the elections. Very soon he will disappear and live a luxurious lifestyle in Accra when he wins. We are watching.
How do you know IGP is a card bearing member of NPP?
@Tonga, what is your problem if he was a card bearing member of NDC when he was working with IGP? IGP himself is a card bearing member of NPP. You think NPP government appointed him for nothing. Give us a break.
Bro you have asked the right question.
Is this policeman qualified to contest the NDC primaries? According to the NDCs requlations, the person must be a card bearing member of the Party. How long has this ex policeman been a card bearing member of the NDC? Was he a card bearing member when he was the Executive Secretary to the IGP? Is the NDC going to change its own rules? EYES ARE WATCHING.
