The controversy surrounding the Founders’ day seems to have emerged again after it’s maiden celebration on August 4, 2019.
Founders’ Day is now a statutory public holiday celebrated on August 4th annually.
This was after the passing of the Public Holiday Amendment Bill into law on March 2019.
Prior to this, September 21st which is the birthday of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana's first President was regarded as Founder’s Day.
Meanwhile, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the Convention People’s Party (CPP) and other historians have kicked against the celebration of August 4 as Founders’ Day.
Discussing the issue on Tuesday's edition of Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo', the National Youth Organizer of the NPP, Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B and the Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr could not come to an agreement; both had different historical views.

hmmm oh Lord help our mother land Ghana...of what use or value thus this celebration add to the hardship in this country? the amount of hardship across the country our so called morning shows are full jargons of NPP and NDC..Mr Pratt and Nana B's families are super doing well because of who they stand by. Our president going around the world tour speaking to leaders using all the BIG grammar and acting as if his Ghana is flowing with milk and honey...History that has nothing to show for is worth nothing to celebrate..It hurt my heart so much that our young ones are not stepping up to be creative enough to compete with the west.
have those of us who were not alive at independence been excluded from 6th march 1957 Independence celebration?
