Private legal practitioner and a member of the NDCs communication team, lawyer Godwin Edudzie Tamakloe has disclosed that the PDS deal has not been suspended as claimed by government.
According to him, a new letter released by ECG really puts PDS in charge of power distribution and other services and that government has lied to Ghanaians.
Speaking on Okay Fm's Ade Akye Abia programme, he explained that government has not been truthful to Ghanaians adding that the PDS deal was fraught with corruption.
"Government claims to be investigating this PDS deal but this new joint letter from the electricity company of Ghana and PDS shows that government has not actually suspended the operations of PDS," he said

Background
The Government of Ghana through the Ministry of Finance and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Ltd. has suspended the concession agreement with Power Distribution Services (PDS) Ghana Limited with immediate effect.
“The decision follows the detection of fundamental and material breaches of PDS’ obligation in the provision of Payment Securities (Demand Guarantees) for the transaction which has been discovered upon further due diligence,” a government statement announcing the suspension of PDS operations said.
PDS deal suspended in public interest; to protect ECG assets – Akufo-Addo
President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said Government suspended the Power Distribution Services (PDS) agreement in the interest of the public. The President also insists that the move was to protect the assets of the Electricity Company of Ghana worth over $3 billion. According to President Akufo-Addo, the decision to make the suspension of the PDS agreement public was “for the country to know exactly what is going on, and, therefore, hold the government to account for its stewardship.
Addressing members of the Ghanaian community in Angola on Thursday, August 8, 2019, the President explained that his Government inherited an arrangement in which the United States Government, through the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), offered the country half a billion dollars of money for the reform of the energy sector.
“It was decided to incorporate it largely into the reform of the Electricity Corporation of Ghana. One of the conditions of the money was that we should get a private electricity coordinator to partner with the nation to manage our electricity generation and distribution system,” he said.

@ASEM ASA, please do not through dust into our eyes. You see, you do not know Larry Kwesi Jiagge who is the insurance lawyer you are referring to. has an interest in the insurance companies involved in the PDS saga. He was talking from his personal interest point of view. He may be correct to an extent but considering it is a strategic national asset valued over $1 billion, the scrutiny should be higher and stringent. The reason why Edudzi and Kofi Bentel kept quiet was because of the professional and social acquaintances with Jiagge. Afenyo Markin was talking about private businesses which can afford to subtitute different insurance facilities with others not and over $1billion dollar national asset. You cannot substitute a liquid instrument with an insuranced instrument. If it goes wrong, just imagine how many people will lose. We do not handle national assets with this magnitude by heart. The insurance or reassurance company can decide not to pay or reduce their liability and the result is that it will be very risky for a whole country. I take what Jiagge said with a pinch of salt because he has a personal interest in the insurance element that the contract was changed to. LETS UNDERSTAND THE ISSUES BEFORE WE SPEAK.
The 6 comments on Mr Tamaklo's statement demonstrate their naivety and lack of knowledge of the subject matter under discussion. The government itself has admitted to say there is some wrong doing by PDS and was confirmed by the President and that there is going to be investigation and you these young ones living far away from Ghana want to tell Ghanaian that what someone who is living with them in Ghana making statement that the government is not telling the truth, that person is a propagandist Mr. Tamaklo is saying that what the government has told Ghanaian that PDS has been suspended as not proper partner that is not the case and that the government is still doing business with PDS, what is propagander about the statement.
Just keep quiet,NDC li-ars…...when the NDC young guys like Okudzetoe A, Eduadzea Tamaklo, john Jinapoh etc are talking just watch them well well because they just lie between their teeth. Sad to say that they don't show any remorse when they lie and lean on the press to spin it for them. Last Saturday, the insurance expert who came on NEWSFILE just nailed the NDC talker thei-fs as just throwing dust in the eyes of Ghanaians. The govt and PDS did no wrong...shame on NDC
Saturday on newsfile, an insurance specialist was brought to bring the curtain down on this issue. And it is clear that both PDS and the government have done no wrong. So I don't understand why propagandist Tamakloe struggling to find blame on Nana. This posture will not earn you a vote
Lawyer Tamakloe was cut to size during the NEWSFILE program for spewing what appeared to be liars for pollical gains. NDC were gong to give 80% concession to private entity and ONLY 20% to Ghanaians..NPP reversed it to 51% Ghana-owned 49% to foreign entity. If this is not the right way to go let the Create LOOT and Share Party tell Ghanaians. At least we got an Insurance expert to alley the fears of Ghanaians that nothing wrong has been done-and that the insurance coverage was and is good. Shame on NDC. In the meantime, NPP communicators must be briefed well to set the records straight instead of allowing these NDC surrogates to misinform the general public.
dont bring back PDS. we dont need their service
The government lied so you want us to believe you i d i o u t.You want to tone the lines of Okuddzeto Ablakwa,Elvis Afriyie Ankrah,Felix Ofosu Kwakye etc so that in the unlikely event of NDC gain power you can amass wealth in the wrong way, daawa, afiafitor find something good to do with your life.Compote your self and join very prominent law firm to live a decent life.Ghana is no more a cash cow for you come and milk.
One of the NDC activists who usually go to school when NDC is in power. Tax payers money being used to educate themselves. Always doing propaganda
