Energy Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has charged members of the New Patriotic Party to work hard by canvassing for the party across the country in order to defeat the NDC’s John Mahama for the 3rd time.
This, according to the Minister, is because John Mahama has nothing to offer Ghanaians based on his track-record.
He said none of the NPP Flagbearer aspirants have been President before unlike former President Mahama who has been President and has an abysmal track-record.
Dr. Prempeh spoke at a meeting with delegates of Manhyia South constituency on Friday, 27th October, 2023 ahead of Saturday’s NPP Flagbearer elections.
He added that the global economic situation has made governments unpopular and the NPP is suffering from the same fate but charged the members to tell Ghanaians of the record of the party in the wake of these difficult circumstances as against same of the NDC where there were no exogenous shocks.
“We have to let the Ghanaian people know that, we haven’t made their lives all-rosy, we admit there are difficulties, but we are fixing the challenges. Another opportunity to continue the work we doing is better than giving a man whose ambition is just to complete his second term to equal the record of his predecessors”, he said.
The Manhyia South MP urged the delegates to see the November 4 election as an internal exercise, therefore should be devoid of animosity, bickering and antagonism.
“After the Presidential Primaries, we must come together, work together, hold together and defeat the NDC again”, he stressed.

@Nii Laryea, it's a pitiful situation for Ghana. Our most prudent choice may be to vote for Alan. Perhaps, that would set the stage for national union and proper utility of our brains. Otherwise, between Bawumia and Mahama, it's a challenge of whose failures were lighter. In that regard, Mahama is better. The gravity of corruption under Bawumia and Nana Addo's are unparalleled, mediocrity, lawlessness and capturing of state institutions, insensitivity, broad day stealing by government appointees, among others have been institutionalised. Voting for them in another row, will have Ghana turned into a famine land especially if they get majority in parliament.
@Party man & David Asante, granted that Bawumia is bad, how on earth do you want Mahama’s comeback? I feel sorry for Ghana.
@Abgenyo, nobody is pretending to sleeping. We are reading the deeds of this government very meticulously. See that you mentioned a few things that you think are positive about this government. With the exception of FSHS policy that will yield significantly in the future, what's the value and impact of the other projects that this government has achieved compared to the amounts they have borrowed? There is clearly no proper developmental plan, no coherence, just doing things haphazardly to show that they are doing something. Look at how human lives are valued by our so called leaders, in this age? ***barred word*** lives and integrity are protected elsewhere. Bawumia is spending in the excess of a thousand fold in bribing delegates than the government is spending to respond to a disaster that the government's negligence and incompetence has created. Sadly, these pretenders will come and tell us that they're humble, modest, God fearing etc., as if we don't have the capacity to think. One day, the era of mediocre leaders will end. Even if they're not alive to witness what serious minded, selfless, incorruptible and intelligent leaders will come and do, their mortal remains will be dishonoured for the kind of disservice they have done this country.
Somebody should tell the Honorable Minister to wake up and smell the coffee. This time around the NPP can not ***barred word*** Ghanaians with empty promises the way they did in 2016. Ghanaians are very wise, especially the Ghana Youth. If you bribe them to vote for you, they will take your money and will never vote for you, so the NPP should think about that.
@Koo It is difficult to awake a person pretending to be asleep. You don't travel across the country, Even if you travel within the country, to some few places. But FSHS, 1D1F, Roads, Educational infrastructure, Agenda 111, Ghana Card (Game Changer), Solving Dumsor, Employement of graduates (Teachers, Nurses, Polytechnics and Universities) since 2009, Solving the Dagbong crises, Creation of 6 New Regions, Putting Ashanti Gold back to production, Tamale and Kumasi International Airports etc. ALL in the midst of global pandemic and international conflicts. Shine your eyes, please.
You didnt work hard for the last seven years, what can you do for the last one year remaining? Plan for opposition for the next eight years if you dont bring Ken and work hard in opposition to come back.
You won't be successful with even stolen or rigged votes. Who is going to give you the winning votes? After collapsing indigenous businesses, raising inflation and exchange rates to unbelievable levels, borrowing excessively, stealing and hiding Ghanaians monies in your bedrooms while people have been rendered valueless. Displaying such level of incompetence resulting in dam spilling, majority of our professional workforce seeking greener pastures elsewhere, the arrogance, the mafia work, the number of nuisance taxes, your profligate living, etc etc, our eyes are wide open and our revenge will be to give you the greatest defeat in our political history
