Head of Linguistics at the University of Ghana, Professor Kofi Agyekum has cautioned the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP) against the impact of the current electricity crisis on their performance in the December 7 elections.
Professor Kofi Agyekum, popularly called "Opanyin Agyekum", registered his displeasure with the Electricity Company of Ghana's delay in drawing a timetable for Ghanaians.
To him, the call for a timetable is genuine as it will help Ghanaians to plan their activities unlike they being unable to predict the situation.
Opanyin Agyekum also expressed worry over the government's refusal to be transparent with Ghanaians regarding the cause of the power cuts and when the nation should expect an end to the problem.
To him, how the government is treating Ghanaians may affect their "breaking the eight" agenda.
"Your breaking the eight will be difficult if this problem lingers on", he said, advising "it's not shameful to tell us that you promised us no dumsor but at it stands now, we are in dumsor . . . so, the government should wake up if it's sleeping and resolve this issue immediately for us because this is extremely disturbing".
He made this comment during Peace FM's morning show "Kokrokoo".

There's a higher probability of the pope getting married on December 7th, than npp winning the election. That little mon key driver and his incompetent mate should resign immediately. We don't want recycled good mahama either. I CALL FOR A BLOODLESS COUP!!
not only dumsor. if they dont pass the anti lgbtq law
Save your breath on Prof. Agyekum guys. This patronising government has succeeded in making a mockery out of him by employing his son to work with them. His hands are in the mouth of this clueless administration. This government was bound to fail immediately it succeeded in patronising our gullible opinion leaders right from the clergyman to the media in the country. My only worry is how the country is going to function after change of government. And here, I mean new administration wether NPP or NDC. I can only wish that Ghana does never again experience such a horrible governance of Akufo-Addo. A reckless and deadpan leader with wax in the ear.
Another hypocrite professor.. see no evil, say no evil, hear no evil. We hope you will forever remain same when power change hands. Ghana go bee k3k3...
Massa, your Government is not serious and they take the Ghanaian for granted as if they themselves have given up hope of "breaking the 8" why are they such liars and then they have the audacity to minimize the dumsor issue as well by comparing it to 2012. Look in 2012, compared to 2024, thanks to Bawumia, everything has moved digital, thus it is an existential crisis when electricity which powers the internet is off. In other words the impact of dumsor now is more than ever very critical due to the digitization agenda by Bawumia. As if that is not enough, Bawumia now wants Ghanaian buses to be charged by electricity when electricity is not even stable, these guys are not serious!!
