Abdul Razak Karim lost his job as coach of Stade Malien after an executive meeting on Tuesday.

The Malian side decided to end the tenure of the 56-year-old after a poor run of results in the domestic league and the CAF Champions League.

The Bamako-based side fell seven points behind rivals and leaders Djoliba in the Malian Premiere Division after a 3-2 home defeat to COB last Sunday.

They were eliminated from this year’s Champions League losing 3-2 on aggregate to Egyptian giants Al Ahly.

“The executive committee of the Stade Malien has decided to put an end to the working contract of coach Abdul Razak Karim,” a club statement said.

“No ultimatum was issued to the Ghanaian coach but the club has realised that its collaboration with Razak has not be moving in the right direction.”

Karim, 1978 Africa Footballer of the Year, left for Mali after he was dismissed by then Ghana Premier League side Real Tamale United two seasons ago.
