The Black Stars hopes of making a fourth successive appearance at the FIFA World Cup were all but dashed tonight at the Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria after they lost 2-0 to the Pharaoh's of Egypt.
The Pharaoh's proved tactically superior to the Black Stars who dominated possession but conceded late goals in either half.
The first goal was scored by Mohammed Salah from a penalty in the 42nd minute after Hassan Trezequet was felled by Harrison Afful in the box.
The Roma winger scored his 27th goal in Egypt colours sending Razak Brimah the wrong way and slotting calmly.
The Stars continued to dominate the exchanges and came close to scoring several times in the first half.
Veteran Egypt goalie Essam Hadary was in superb form and on several occasions he denied the Black Stars an equaliser.
Hadary saved smartly from a thunderbolt free kick by Mubarak Wakaso and also frustrated the Stars with his playacting anytime he made a save.
Jordan Ayew also fired narrowly wide late in the first half after he managed to create space for himself.
The Stars continued to dominate the clash but after the break but the Egyptians chose to sit back and hit their opponents on the counter attack.
Christian Atsu came closest to scoring but his left footed shot was saved smartly by El Hadary who moments later saved a tame header from Agyemang Badu.
The Egyptians completed their sweet revenge for a 6-1 loss suffered to Ghana in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers when Stoke City's Ramadhan Sobhi raced away on the left flack before releasing the ball to Salah who found an unmarked Abdallah Said in the box to score.
Said allowed the ball to run across his body before swiveling to fire a low shot past a hapless Razak Brimah.
The Stars were also very wasteful from numerous set-piece opportunities that fell their way.
The Pharaoh's now lead the Group with six points followed by Uganda on four points while the Stars are in third place with one point and whipping boys Congo have no points.

In February next year, we will be organizing three-in-one achievement party. 1.The exit of the black stars (no more co-efficient money sharing), 2. the exit of the use.less coach, the coming into office of the Nana Addo's Govt.
I am so happy, and for once i slept very well because I know the Black Stars will not qualify to the world cup. The tax payers money will rest to be used in development projects if we get a good government. All these moneys which were to the corrupt GFA officials will stop. All we need is a good government to use these saved-moneys well to the benefit of all of us. The next good thing to happen to us is when we do away with the la.zy 'frefrekobo (calling calling players to go and play) coach in February next year. $50,000 per moth plus other allowances for doing nothing. He knows very well that he just 'chopping' our money.
Nii lantey Vanderpuye----You do All, You be too much.
Just cast your mind back to Brand Black Stars in 2009 to see how much th expensive and without imagination of South Africa and Brazil branding

THE BLACKSTARS TO ME HAVE BEEN DEFEATED AND WILL NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE NEXT WORLD CUP : To me the Black Stars have always been a team with no determination to win anything ; all they do is add up to the numbers in any competition ; Jon Mahama NDc have always used the Blackstatrs to still from the nation and we have become a GREAT laughing stock of the world because of these EDITIC FULLS ; even our Black Queens are better at least they can get some where not these Ebola virus infested players called the Blackstars ; how could you carry $3million in hard currency to another country and the what happened to the cash Afriyie Ankrah a stiller and a thiff stills the money and shares the cash amongst the NDC cronies including Jon Mahama ; for almost over 20 years the Blackstars have never won anything !!!!!!!but we keep on pouring money after them like lunatics ; the GFA led by Nyantakyi is a den of thiffs and fraudesters with their noses in the till stilling Ghana's money ; their players use the world stage to show case themselves ; look at sully muntari ; asamoah Djan ; Essien and others all following this easy cash for doing nothing ; they are paid huge sums of allowances and they use the cash to go shopping with their wives and girlfrineds and then they turn round and laugh at mother Ghana ; HOW STOOOPID CAN WE AS GHANAIANS BE !!!!!!!!!: to me the Blackstars should dissolved ASAP besides they should think carefully about employing foreign coaches again ; we should have home grown coaches because all the coaches they employ always give 'NOKKOFIO' to GFA officials this must STOP ; FRankly I wish the Blackstars lose all their machches and come and at home because the Blackstatrs have been turned into a vehicle for stilling state funds fro the time of ET Mensah to -ULESS BLACKESTATRS WHO NEVER WIN ANYTHING !!!!!!!!!SACK THEM ALLL !!!!!!WHY WASTE MONEY ON THIS GREEDY SONS OF MOTHER F.UC.KE.RS !!!!!!!!!!!!; WITH THEIR ARROGANT DISPLAY OF NON INTELLIGENCE !!!!!FOR PLAYING FUTBALL.
God answered my prayers yesterday - Thank God the Black Stars lost. God bless Egypt. The management team of the black star are so corrupt to the core such that qualifying to the world cup will be an abomination. Much as i feel sad for the innocent players i am deeply satisfied that opportunity to loot and share fizzled away yesterday. Ghana should never qualify to the world cup under this innately crooked and corrupt government who have no conscience. I urge the black star players to concentrate on their career with their clubs and forget about black star.
I'm so sad after reading all the comments below. Football the only unify-er in the country is also loosing its credibility in Ghana. for Ghana to loose and the people are happy tells us that something is really wrong. I don't blame the players for anything. I hope like some of guys are saying on this platform the leadership will realised the F000OLISHNESS going on with the minister & the FA and the curupt president who reward ministers with position at his office after embezzlement.
I am very happy for this. At least neither the players nor the officials who do not raise a foot will get Ghana money to chop. God bless mother Ghana.
Blame Nii Lante. His needless fight with GFA is the cause of all these.
@Kwesi, give the players a break. How much of the money do you think ever get to the players' bank accounts? And don't you think the players will get better money if they stay in Europe and avoid all this Black Stars camping and its inconvenience? Blame the FA, blame our culture. And blame the ministry. KP Boateng would have changed this game. Imagine Brazil without Neymar. Imagine Barcelona without Messi. Good players and talented players change games. The team played at the level of South Africa 2010. But there was no one to score the decisive goals. So think of it. Jordan Ayew and Christian Atsu are not destined to be goal scorers.
