The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has named James Kwesi Appiah as the new coach of Senior National Team, the Black Stars.
The decision was taken by the Executive Committee of the GFA on Tuesday after approving the report of the six-man coaching search committee.
Appiah will be handed a two-year contract and will start his duties on 1st May, 2017.
He will also take full charge of the Local Black Stars.

NEW BLACK STARS COACH – OPEN LETTER TO MINISTER OF SPORTS AND GFA PRESIDENT Congratulations to coach Kwesi Appiah for getting his old job back. Whilst he has immediate concerns like preparing for upcoming matches, it is important to start planning for medium and long-term sustainability and viability of the Black Stars. How should this be done? Firstly the GFA should put in place clear policies and processes for development of Ghanaian footballing talents right from pre-teen s through under-17s to Black Stars level. The Chinese have set a clear target to be a world-class footballing nation in the future. To achieve this they have put specific measures in place. For example all premier league teams MUST HAVE 3 UNDER-23s IN THE STARTING LINE-UP! So far neither the Chinese FA nor FIFA has protested. What prevents the GFA from adopting a similar policy in the next premier league season? GFA can even go further by insisting that coach Kwesi Appiah should include at least 3 under-23 players in his subsequent call-ups of Black Star players to camp! Such an approach will motivate the youth to aspire to greater heights because (1) they can learn from their more accomplished seniors at first hand during camping, and (2) it will be an opportunity for young geniuses to shine and bring glory to the nation. Ghana has good relations with powerful football nations like Brazil, England, France, Germany, Italy and Spain etc. Honourable Minister for Sports, I am sure if you approach the local embassies of these nations something fruitful will occur. Coaches from Brazil, England, France, Germany, Italy and Spain etc. can organise twice-yearly clinics for our local coaches to sharpen their skills and bring them up-to-date. Similar arrangement can be made for our referees. Onwards, Black Stars! Long live Ghana!
JKA PLEASE IS IT THE SAME KNOW PEOPLE IN THE GFA WHO EMPLOY YOU OR DIFFERENT LEADERS. JKA YOU NEED TO PRAY HARD AND NOT ONLY PRAYING BUT RESULT AMEN
CONGRATULATION JKA, HE WILL ALSO TAKE FULL CHARGE OF THE LOCAL BLACK STARS AND I ASK THESE QUESTION WHO ARE LOCAL BLACK STARS

TO ME BIG MISTAKE BY KWESI APPIAH !!!!!!! ; he should never have taken this JOB because it is a poison chalice ;some Ghanaians are just EVIL and liars like SATAN ; give the man another 6 months and the same people will start critising him ; KWESI APPIAH JUST TAKE THE NAME !!!!!! : DO NOT SAY I DIDN'T WARN YOU ABOUT GHANAIAN HYPOCRACY AND GREED BECAUSE YOU ARE AGAIN GOING INTO THE VIPERS DEN AND YOU SHALL BE EATEN ALIVE AGAIN !!!!!!!!BY KWESI NYATAKYI AND HIS MERRY MEN OD EVIL MEN; BECAUSE EXPERIENCE IS THE BEST TEACHER NEVER FORGIVE THE GHANAIAN THEY EVIL !!!!PERIOD !!!!!!
A good decision indeed. Hearts and Kotoko should get local coaches.
I cannot agree with Kofi the more as I am so elated to hear the news of Akwasi's comeback. Is only fair to give a second chance to the record top scoring coach in our World cup qualifying history.I highly rate Akwasi Appiah for this feat and the balanced game he played with the higly rated German team, the eventual winners of the last World Cup.Remember they disgraced Brazil the host by beating them 7-1
We will all regret this. Mark my words.I don't understand how you hire someone to do a job, fire him because he failed and then rehire him at a later day. Only in Ghana. I wish though that he succeeds. This is a country in which we use our hearts instead of our heads. The times we won the Afcon, the coaches were all Ghanaian but how long has that been?and how much has football and for that matter coaching changed? For me it does not matter who is coaching the national teams. Black, yellow, green;from Afghanistan,Papua New Guinea,Somalia. It doesn't matter. Success is what we want and I don't think Kwesi Appiah has what it takes.
Great news. Ghana is for Ghanaians.
