New Ghana coach Kwasi Appiah arrived in Ghana on Friday afternoon to a rousing welcome ahead of his unveiling next week.
Among the hundreds of jubilant supporters who were at the airport to welcome him were Ibrahim Saani Daara, GFA spokesperson, local coaches and football administrators.
Speaking to the media at the at the Kotoka International Airport, the 56- year-old said he was pleasantly surprised at the numbers that besieged the airport to welcome him.
“I really appreciate everyone who came to welcome me, you spent your time and money to come here, I really appreciate that,” he said
“I always believe the voice of the people is the voice of God and will take this opportunity to thank the president of the nation, the GFA and every Ghanaian for giving me the second chance to coach the national team.
“I will do the best that I can but I can never do it without your help, I will need the prayers and support of every Ghanaian to make our Black Stars great again.

the call up of kwasi appiah cannot be the voice of the people and therefore not the voice of God. it is rather the voice of the bunch of incompetent GFA officials. for 35 years the black stars team has never won any cup in africa and sadly the people at the helm of affairs don't have a clue as to the cause of this. does the GFA see kwasi appiah as the man to end Ghana's cup drought in africa? will he be able to do it this time after taking the team to AFCON 2013 in and suffering humiliation at the hands of burkina faso? yes he qualified the team to brazil 2014 but our performance at that tournament was the worst ever in any world cup performance, bowing out after the first round. the indiscipline exhited by some of the players at brazil 2014 is still fresh on our minds. was kwasi appiah given the nod again because competence was not one of the criteria considered? personally,i feel other local coaches should have been given the to also show what they can do. after all nothing good is going to come out of kwasi appiah's reappointment. the black stars job is just an opportunity for favoured coaches to make cheap money at the expense of the nation and the tax payer. so in my view, other local coaches should also be given the chance to make money too.
Always, seek the face of God and your job will be well done. Welcome back home.
