The Department of Feeder Roads, has told Citi Business News it has taken steps to get the finance ministry to pay monies owed some contractors who were contracted to work on some cocoa roads in the country.
The Progressive Contractors Association who worked on some road projects for Cocobod are demanding payment of about 95million dollars owed them for work done since 2013.
They have threatened to go to court if the monies are not paid them. But speaking in an interview with Citi Business News, the Director at the Department of Feeder Roads, George Aidoo said all monies owed the contractors will soon be paid.
‘’The fact of the matter is that the ministry of finance is taking steps to pay the monies and we have had series of meetings with them and government is taking steps to address this once and for all.’’
He added that some challenges have hampered the full payment of the debts but was hopeful it will be resolved.
Commenting on the threat by the contractors, Mr Aidoo said it was their right to do so.
