A five-member Tanzanian delegation from the Social Security Regulatory Authority (SSRA) has paid a four-day working visit to the offices of the SSNIT Informal Sector Pension scheme, last week.
The visit, led by Gaudentia Kaba, Tanzanias Minister of Labour and Employment, was to afford the team an opportunity to have an overview of pension administration in the country with emphasis on pension schemes designed for informal-sector workers.
Mrs. Irene Isaka, Director General, SSRA, said the visit will serve as a guide for policymakers in her home country in development of the regulatory frame work for administration of pension schemes for informal-sector workers in Tanzania.
The visit is the third by stakeholders in the pension industry from Tanzania, with earlier visits undertaken by officials of the Government Employees Provident Fund in 2009 and 2010 to understudy operations of the sector.
Other members of the delegation included Mr. Juma Muhimbi, Board Director, SSRA; Mr. Ansgar Mushi, Director of Research Policy and Actuarial Analysis, SSRA; and Mr. Mwanjali, Personal Assistant to the Minister of Labour and Employment.
