Derek Chauvin on Friday offered his condolences to George Floyd’s family — ahead of learning his sentence in the man’s murder.
Chauvin, wearing a suit at the Minneapolis courthouse, addressed Judge Peter Cahill and members of Floyd’s family after they had given victim impact statements prior to his scheduled sentencing.
“I’m not able to give a full formal statement at this time,” the ex-Minneapolis cop said after taking off his face mask. “Very briefly, though, I want to give my condolences to the Floyd family.”
