Kwesi Ennin, a driver from Twifo Praso, has been sentenced to a fine of GH1,020.00 for various motor offences by Cape Coast Metropolitan circuit court.
Ennin, who pleaded guilty to all the four counts of carrying greater number of persons, failing to send vehicle to station, causing inconvenience to police officer and failing to produce driving license, will go to prison for four years in default.
Inspector Daniel Baidoo told the court that on February 16, police on patrol duties at Praso arrested Ennin for carrying 25 passengers instead of 15 and he could also not produce his driving license.
He said Corporal Kofi Krah was instructed to join the car to the police station, impound the car and release the driver to bring the car owner to the police station.
Ennin refused to stop at the police station and took the policeman to the outskirts of the town.
