The Basic Education Certificate Examination BECE starts today April 16 to Friday April 20.
The Exam is one of the entrance requirements to the Senior High Schools in the country.
The Upper East Director of the Ghana Education Service, Paul Apanga said all is set for the pupils in the region to commence the nationwide examination.
�We have a total of about 322 junior high schools taking part in the exams, which gives us a total of about 15,957 candidates,� he said.
The Upper East is one of the regions which recorded bad results in last year�s examination but Mr. Apanga told Citi News that the region expects to record better grades this year.
He said GES put in place new strategies and innovations such as extra tutorials during weekends and holidays to improve the performance of the students.
