Statistics show that last year, the Brong-Ahafo Region recorded 170 young mothers who wrote the Basic Education Certificate Examination. This is an increase from 101 in 2011 and 77 in 2010.
These figures are very alarming as they keep increasing every year.
It is therefore imperative for stakeholders in education to work hard to ensure that the girl child is able to complete her basic education with as little obstacle as possible.
These were made known by a Lecturer at the Sunyani Polytechnic, Victoria Adu, during the inaugural ceremony of the first ever Brong-Ahafo Regional Girls Camp under the USAID Junior High School Education Project.
