Police personnel along the Mallam Highway were forced to abandon their night duty and forced to assist accident victims because a tanker driver missed his way and run into a loaded cargo truck forcing it to roll over in the process.
The accident which occurred on Wednesday night on the newly created 14 kilometer stretch of the N1 Highway, left no casualty dead but looked horrific to the eye. The capsized truck had its engine oil spilled all over the road and its front bumper, smashed into unrecognizable pieces.
As at the time Peacefmonline.com got to the scene, we were briefed by an onlooker who saw the whole event transpire that had it not been for the help of some good Samaritans, the tanker driver would have drove on without stopping over to assist in solving the horrendous scene he had created.
According to the onlooker who refused to give out his name, the tanker driver missed his way whilst driving to Kasoa and in an attempt to ply the right road that led to his destination; he failed to lookout if there was a car close to him. He switched to a different lane and in the process; his vehicle forcefully pushed the cargo car away causing it to capsize.
