The President, His Excellency Nana Akufo Addo, has tasked the Board of Trustees for the National Cathedral Project to deliver a formal monumental cathedral for the Nation by making sure the project is completed on time.
The President was addressing the group of Clergy men and women during the inauguration of the Board, when he charged them to support the building of a national cathedral for the country.
He said the inaugurated board would be focusing and agreeing on the design of the project, supervising the construction and even more importantly; raising the finances for the Project.
President Akufo Addo pointed out that the Board also stands the responsibility of managing the facility once completed and was optimistic the project will be completed on time.
On his part, the Chairman, Rt. Rev. Asante Antwi, in expressing appreciation of the Board members said, the board is ready to deliver the project for the people of Ghana and assured the President that he and his team would put all hands on deck and ensure the completion of the project on time.
He said they have accepted this as a major responsibility placed on them by the President the people of Ghana.
“We are conscious of the fact that a tabernacle, cathedrals and temples are all religious symbols. ….of course we have a very huge one for our Muslim brothers at Kaukudi, so to have a vision for our Christian brothers and sisters shows cordiality between these two religions,”
He also indicated that members of the Board will soon meet to see the way forward and pledged to work tirelessly for it to materialize.
The board of trustees comprises the following: the chairman, Most Reverend Asante Antwi and his assistant, Archbishop Charles Plamer Buckle. Prophet Kusi Boateng will be the member secretary to the board. The rest of the members are: Apostle Opoku Onyinah, Rev. Joyce Agree, Presbyterian Moderator, Cephas Amenyo, Rt. Rev.
