The minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Hon. Elizabeth Afoley Quaye, has commenced a working visit on some fish farms in the eastern region.
Her visit intends to interact with the farmers and assess necessary approach to accelerate better progress of the sector.
The minister for fisheries and aquaculture lauded people in fishing industry in the Asuogyaman area for embracing the venture and producing quality food for the country.
Interacting with the Farmers on her working visit to Tropo farmers Mpakadan, West African Fish farm Asikuma, Asutware farms and China Fogien farm, Madam Elizabeth stressed the need for the farmers to adhere to safe and healthy production and always seek technical support from the sector.
She outlined some innovations to be introduced by the new administration to foster better operating service for the business.
She again, tasked them to secure all necessary regulatory permits for their business to ensure a holistic operation.
Meanwhile, the minister has called for an emergency investigation into the operations of China Fogien, fish meal and farm at Asutware, for detailed information on their business.
The farms, she discovered has no legal genuine permits, bad and unhygienic practices, bad technical structures, unsafe chemical use among others.
