The Military High Command has placed three of its personnel in detention for allegedly collecting money from illegal miners.
The soldiers tried to extort money from some illegal miners in Wassa Akropong in the Western Region while on duty with Operation Vanguard.
The unnamed officers have subsequently been suspended from their duties with Operation Vanguard.
They have been placed under arrest at the 2nd Battalion of Infantry in Takoradi, a statement signed by Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Armed Forces, Colonel Eric Aggrey-Quashie has said.
According to the statement, “Detailed investigations are being conducted into the case and stern disciplinary action would be taken against them if found culpable”.
“The Military High Command wishes to assure the general public that under no circumstance will it condone such unprofessional conduct by any member of the Ghana Armed Forces.
“In the meantime, personnel on Operation Vanguard would continue to perform their assigned tasks to ensure that the mandate is achieved.”

why do i have this felling that we are wasting our resources on this galamsey fight? I see it as a way to deny some ple the opportunity to operate and allow some ple to do so. even Anas the so-called saint in the eyes of the ple fell for the bribes from the kingpins behind the galamsey operation and that is why he is not able to release the video. Kweku Baako, Anas' boss said this is an exercise in futility if the political elements associated with the galamsey are not taking care of. So this mean they have something they are hiding from the public on this galamsey issue. I am very match interested to see how his fight with Ken Agyepong will end.
So if this were a war with another country, these soldiers would have been prepared to take money from the enemy and not defend their country? Then they shouldn't be in the armed forces
Go guys the whole nation is behind you. More grease to your elbow!!!!!!!!!
Was it lack of motivation or what? Authorities need to look into the motivation factor to prevent our men from being induced under such circumstances.. In-spite of that our men in uniform must be patriotic enough and not allow themselves to be drawn into such disgraceful situations.
