The National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) says its members will not work on weekends to support the free Senior High School (SHS) double track system.
According to NAGRAT, although it supports the system, it will not be right for its members to work those extra hours because it is against the Labour law.
In their opinion, if the government insists on implementing the double track system, then probably recruits of the Nation Builders Corp (NABCo) will be required to take upon themselves those roles.
The General Secretary of NAGRAT, Mr Samuel Frank Dadzie, made this known at a Daily Graphic/Star Ghana dialogue on Educational Policy in Ghana Wednesday.
Speaking on the theme "Unpacking the Double Track System: Implications for Sustainable Financing and Prospects for Educational Quality in Ghana," Mr Samuel Frank Dadzie questioned the kind of free senior high school (SHS) that the country wants to achieve with the introduction of the double track system.
"...in putting so much stress on the teacher, let's also think of quality. What kind of free SHS do we want?" he asked.
Meanwhile, a deputy Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum has said, four personnel from the Nation Builders Corp (NABCo) will be attached to each school under the double track system.

NAGRAT must know that the Npp govt is always right so they must kill them selves to ensure that even if sixty track system is introduced it succeeds. They should not attempt to sabotage this Manifesto promise of King Promise P
These associations must be disbanded because they impede the good work of governments voted by the people to work for them. If I were the government I would even do away with these so called NAGRATS and hire fresh teachers, after all some students fail under this so called NAGRATS and the beginning of everything has challenges but at the long run the country will benefit and we see who will suffer when they are unemployed. ***barred word*** kwa ! aah ! why are we allowing some people to be tin gods in Ghana and draw everybody back? if they are not compromising sack them! Renold Reagan showed American airplane pilots when they thought they could bluff on him insisting no plane was going to move until their demands were met, all Reagan did was called Airforce men asked them to change their Uniforms into the Pilots uniforms and within a twinkle of an eye all the planes in America were in the air with passengers to their destinations and the next thing was all those bluffing pilots got were dismissal letters and that was the end. We can't build a nation with associations impeding whatever the government want to do, it's either they work or go home! people are unemployed with excellent certificates and if you want to bluff you go home and bluff. ***barred word*** ! We the people of Ghana need to stand against some of these ***barred word*** decisions by these ***barred word*** associations formed to fight governments. If they tired and can't work they need to go home for those who are ready to work. TUC stands for workers so why all these associations? they must be disbanded!
selfish "NAGRAT" if you listen to their position when the double track system was mentioned, to them it fails. They pretend to support they system, but deep in their heart it's a lie.How can they say they support but in other hand they will not help the children on saturday and sundays. They should be citizens.
