General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has proposed that a state burial is held for the former United Nations Secretary-General, Kofi Annan.
According to Mr Nketia, it will show how the country appreciates his contribution to the development of the country and the world.
“Kofi Annan was a principled man who believed in the well-being of humans. His contribution was not only for Ghana but for the whole world and that made us special. So I believe it will be best if he is given a state burial,” he said on Accra-based Neat FM monitored by Adomonline.com.
Mr Kofi Annan passed on in Swiss Capital, Berne, on Saturday morning after a short illness.
Mr Nketia described Mr Annan as a representation of peace and someone who preached peace throughout his life and therefore Ghanaians must champion his legacy.
Paying tribute to the late Kofi Anan, the illustrious Ghanaian, and former UN secretary general, Mr Nketia described the Ghanaian diplomat, who was the seventh secretary-general as a great mentor who was an inspiration to many.

NPP FAITHFULS WHY ARE U INSULTING GENERAL MOSQUITO? what wrong has he done? Ghanaians will show you pepper. u even respect ur dwarf, liaryer, president. so think you people know it all. lieyers, arrongant and hooligans, blood suckers like u said even paa kwesi get state burial no wonder you people don't respect from executive down to foot solders. God will punish you all. SO in today Gh lies is a truth and truth is lies.
Oh Asiedu, I have reduced your rank to corporal for the following reasons. 1. You could not continue your demonstrations about the American military base matter through out the country 2. You promised to strike for former E.C. Chairman but it seems you have lost the steam. 3. You could not suggest to the government that the former vice-president should be given a state burial and you are just testing the waters with this suggestion. Keep it to yourself and save your near collapsed party
Let General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, know that former United Nations Secretary-General, Kofi Annan. he is not for Ghana alone , he was a former United Nations Secretary-General, Kofi Annan. The General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu should stop that cheap suggesting to the country Ghana. Ghana will listen to what the United Nations will come out with the burial arrangement .
All of a sudden this man has become one that suggests to government to give such an honorary and illustrious son of this land a state burial. Anyways, when you are in opposition wahala makes you think beyond your beyond your ordinary mindset.
NDC as a political party has lost credibility. No amount of populistic assertions can boost up the image of NDC as a credible political party in Ghana. And they don't seem to realize that the excesses of their propaganda have become counterproductive. It is up to the family of Mr. Annan to decide his burial and if they so wish, which should also be in line with the will of Mr. Annan, then the Government of Ghana can plan to grant him that last respect. And I strongly believe, the Government of will wish to offer him that due respect wholeheartedly. What has become of Asomdwea Park where President Mills was buried.NDC should give us a break. Asem s€ b€!
Even paa kwasi was given state burial how much this giant and honorable man.ndc stop this f00liness
Kofi Annan doesn't need any state burial if it is going to be proposed by NDC. Cheap man
this is cheap of you. everyone knows he will be given. he deserves it and you dont need to remind elite people. NDC may not do it until reminded but NPP will surely do
Who are you to suggest to the NPP government Kofi Annan deserves state burial? or you think you can say it because you know they will give him, you people in the ndc are confused idi*ts. Were you ndc not the same people who warned him to stay away from Ghana politics else he will face your wrath? and what has changed after his death? double standard people with double sharp tongues ! I was like what a wow! when I heard ndc were flying their flag at half mast! thank God they've now accepted they are a republic by themselves hence don't care a hoot about Ghanaians but need their votes for their wicked agenda! God forbid ! Ndc never mention Ghana or Ghanaians but pitch the country against ndc and NPP so as to make the country too political for them to be able to sail through to cause damage to this beautiful harmless country. Aaa Ghanaians learn if you vote ndc you don't vote for Ghana but a kriminal organization called republic of the ndc so DON'T VOTE NDC ! VOTE GHANA !
General mosquito you didn't say it. He is more than deserving of a state burial.
