A total of 28,910 newly trained teachers across the country will begin the first-ever Teacher Licensure Examination.
The examination will be held in all the colleges of education in the country with the exception of the Christ the Teacher, Akim Oda Methodist, St Ambrose, McCoy, Cambridge, Jackson and Holy Spirit colleges of education.
The examination, which will take three days starting Monday September 10, will begin with Essential Professional Skills from 9am to 11am, while Literacy and Numeracy will be written on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Prospective candidates
The candidates are those who completed colleges of education this year, and those who read Education in the various universities and colleges and are desirous to be employed by the Ghana Education Service (GES) to teach in public schools.

I think your thoughts are rather backward. In every profession, you have to get the classroom teaching also known as didactic before you can sit for exams for licensing. As a matter of fact, here in the USA completing just the school is not enough you have sit for the board exams, for your license; renewable every two years. Within those two years, you have to do your Continue education ( CE). Almost every profession in the US does the same
So these type of exams "professional skills " in the developed countries eg UK are used to determine the capability of individuals to teach before the initial teacher training programs but our all "wise" and greedy politicians think it is okay to test individuals after they have paid monies, gone through all the needed training and qualify before testing their suitability to teach. Are we going forward or backward?
