The Founder and Leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Kofi Akpaloo, has asked the government to indict former Governor of Ghana’s Central Bank, Dr. Abdul-Nashiru Issahaku over the Menzgold crises.
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in 2018 asked Menzgold to stop gold trading operations with the public.
According to the SEC, Menzgold had been dealing in the purchase and deposit of gold collectables from the public and issuing contracts with guaranteed returns with clients, without a valid license from the Commission.
An Accra Circuit Court on Wednesday 9th January, 2019 issued a warrant for the arrest of the embattled businessman, Nana Appiah Mensah after his investment company, Menzgold, failed to refund client’s monies.
NAM-1, as he is popularly called, is wanted for defrauding by false pretense. He is also wanted for money laundering.
The flagbearer for Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Kofi Akpaloo in an interview with Atinka FM Monday stated that he personally sent images of the Menzgold buildings in East Legon to the former BoG governor alleging the emergence of suspicion of another Ponzi scheme in 2015.
He noted that former BoG governor, Dr. Abdul-Nashiru Issahaku, ignored his messages although he followed up with official letters as well as calls to the governor himself.
“I think if there is anyone to be punished for the Menzgold crises, the first person should be former governor for Ghana’s Central Bank, Dr. Abdul-Nashiru Issahaku. He never responded to my calls and there was nothing I could do at that time," he said.
Dr. Abdul-Nashiru Issahaku replaced Dr. Kofi Wampah as Governor of the Bank of Ghana on April 04, 2016.

Kofi are you worried about this? Institutions are simply not working in Ghana.People who are put at the helm of institutions immediately go into coma after receiving their appointment letters. But they will parade the corridors of power, stampeding everybody for the position. But as soon as they are put there, that will be the end of the story.
Since when did you realize that oil is being stolen? If you have proof report to the Security Agencies speculations and peddling of lies will not help us a nation
From the look of things Government decided to punish so called " greedy" customers of menzgold that is all. A man has a big compound and one family member planted mango tree. This tree started producing fruits others started plucking and eating .The man told his family members that the mango is not good to be eating.Meanwhile the tree was on the compound for so many years .Then some of the sons decided to eat this mango because they have seen people eating .One of his sons pluck some to given to a friend from whom he has taken some amount of money . Then the father cut the tree down and throw away the mangoes the guys has kept in a sack.
