Research group Afrobarometer has released a survey about freedom and security in Africa. Its five key findings are:
- Many Africans are willing to trade freedom for security
- Fewer Africans feel free to say what they think
- A significant number of Africans are willing to allow their private communications to be monitored
- Fewer Africans care about the right to join groups and
- Support for religious freedom is evenly divided.
