Criminologist, Prof Kenneth Agyemang Attafuah, has joined many calling on the Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to resign.
The Executive Secretary of the National Identification Authority (NIA) said Maame Tiwaa Addo-Danquah would have saved her integrity by not waiting to be removed following the preponderance of calls asking her to step down.
Calls for Mrs Addo-Danquah to step down follow news on Monday that the four missing Takoradi girls were dead, following results of a DNA test.
Before the shocking news, the CID Director-General had said that the girls – Priscilla Blessing Bentum, 21, Priscilla Mantebea Koranchie, 18; Ruth Love Quayson 18, and Ruth Abeka – were alive and their whereabouts were known.
However, after the sad news by acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP), James Oppong-Boanuh, Ghanaians want the police service to held responsible for the death of the four girls – singling out the CID boss.
Many people on Twitter have been calling for the resignation of the CID boss, because, according to some, she handled the case unprofessionally and with utmost incompetence.
The preponderance of this view on Twitter has shot #TiwaaMustGo to the number one spot on the social media site.

I support call your Sir, but I think it true for you too also resign for the way you have handled NIA issues.
You talk toooo much, you should be the one rather resigning after the mess you created at the NIA. Simple ID cards was a problem and you are calling for someone's resignation because of a complicated kidnapping case. Please you are the last to give an advice. Some professor and criminologist INDEED.
I think I share the view of Prof. Misrepresentation of crime investigation result may necessitate that. Police should not tolerate media pressure to give hasty information about ongoing investigation without absolute evidence in criminal investigation. To win public trust prof you are the right person to be listened to.
Those that live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. The NIA is a failure
Attafua must bow down his head in shame. Can someone ask him how many people have been registered by NIA ? He fumbles with NIA and seems very incompetent. Nana Addo must remove him or else the govt. will not achieve its target with the NIA.
Ah ah ah ah! Nsem foo ye ahi papa! Listen to who is talking; Prof. Attafuah, you messed up the national identification programme too badly; you did not resign and here you are calling on somebody else to resign. Mend your torn bottom first, o! Minla sane!
@Kofi Ghana, I think your name should be changed to Kofi Ebola! Even your grammar is questionable: "What a retarded brains?". Indeed you have an under-developed brain! Does Tiwa need to ask kidnappers to kidnap people before she is held responsible for the shambolic manner in which she handled this case? All those against her resignation should bow their empty heads in shame! She had all the tools and apparatus of state to handle this kidnap saga and what did she do: she was obsessed with becoming the first female IGP of Ghana when! He/she who is faithful in small things will be faithful in big things. Imagine if we have such an incompetent ediot as our IGP!
Then you follow.
You are the one to resign if anyone should, u couldnt do simple ID cards for the nation and u are yelling on top of the roof. Kyeeeeew !!!
Prof.... .u should also resign as NIA boss......because u took millions and could only register 8people at one center , each day.....THE MEN NPP CLAIMED THEY HAD ARE ALL SCAMMERS
