The Ghana Registered Nurses Association (GRNA) has urged government to include every health worker in the stimulus package that has been set aside for frontline health personnel in the fight against Coronavirus.
President of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association, Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo speaking in an interview on Peace FM's 'Platform 'programme, Monday, said it is not wrong for only 'frontline' health workers to be covered by the insurance package.
"It should cover everybody because we are all at risk . . . the initiative is good and we are grateful. But every nurse or midwife everywhere is exposed," she said.
Listen to her in the interview below
Background
President Akufo-Addo in a nationwide television address announced that effective April 2020, all frontline health workers in the pandemic fight will among other things receive and an additional allowance of 50% of the basic salary per month for the next three months as well as a three month tax holiday.

Ghanaians and their f**king greediness. Why should an association be thinking this way in times like these? I guess they also want their share of the national pie.
I disagree with the association, not all health workers are front line workers when it come to COVID-19 even as we speak not all 16 regions have reported cases of COVID-19.
Here in America the government has increased salaries of Covid 19 workers. Why will the government give money to a nurse who is not treating Covid 19 patients. Who do u expect to put their lives at risk in a Covid 19 facility and still expect to receive the same package with someone who is not in a high risk zone. Madam, go back and sit somewhere
The country is in war, The President provides relief for those in direct compact, and you come and make noise to be included because you also are a nurse? Is it that simple? That is how low you guys really are ??? Sometimes your head drops chest-low in shame, being part of this population of greedy bestards!!!
All you guys know is money. You don't even understand front line workers, you think the country has enough to be spending unnecessary? This is what happens when NMC is bribed to admit . unqualified and apathetic perrors to be future nurses. NMC stop the jokes, most (86%) of the admitted nurses don't have passion for the job like nightingale had. They are there because of the money and because they want an easy way out, hence, choosing nursing as a profession. Please bring back the psychologists during interviews so we get to know as a country that at least people selected are those who really want to work. Work and stop all those demands because THIS IS WHAT YOU SIGNED FOR.
Government must make sure everyone is tested for covid-19 and patients should submit their cards which shows that he/she is free from covid-19 before nurses and midwives who are not front line health workers may attend to them at their various health facilities
We risk running down our country which such insensitive demands. At a time when the President and his ministers are donating their salaries to help keep the country running, other people are thinking of their personal interest. What about the security forces who are risking their lives day and night to enforce the lock down. Don't they also know how to demand for extra allowances? I think that the health profession as it used to be in the 70s, 80s and 90s is no more. Look at even how some nurses treat patients in the hospitals.....it clearly shows that monetary interest has over taken the passion to save lives. I am not saying that they should not receive what is due them but this selfish act and greediness should come to a halt. Teachers in private schools are thinking of how they can feed their families in these difficult times while persons who work in private firms are faced with uncertainties in the coming months and you have another group of individuals who feel that the country should give them all the resources. I am sorry not all health workers think the same but it is hind time we put an end to this greediness.
If I have my way I will exclude all NDC health workers. NDC hate Akuffo Addo.
Those of you on study leave are not front line staffs...... common sense.
