Government in the statement has reiterated that Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II is the Bawku Naba, duly gazetted and a member of the National and Upper East Regional Houses of Chiefs.
In a statement by the Ministry of Information, “The Government condemns developments in Nalerigu today February 15, 2023, concerning the purported enskinment of a new Bawku Naba as illegal and a threat to National Security.”
"The security agencies have therefore been directed to arrest and prosecute any other person who holds himself out as a Bawku Naba.
“Further, any developments that have the potential to undermine the peace of Bawku will also be dealt with swiftly and in accordance with law,” government cautioned in the statement.
The Mamprusi faction in the protracted Bawku conflict was at the palace of the overlord of Mamprugu, Naa Bohugu Mahama Abdulai Sherigah II on Wedneday for the enskinment of a new Bawku Naba despite the recognition of Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II by the government and the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs as the legitimate ruler of the area.
There were reports that efforts by the government to stop the supposed enskinment from happening failed.

Interesting, i don't get to NAYIRI ( Overlord) of Mamprugu on this issue. By his action is he asking the one he has enskinned to go and take over from the the sitting Bawku naaba or what? Fact is there is no way the kusasi's will allow a Mamprusi to rule over them in their land. It won't happen. I don't think the Kusasi's are against the enskinnment of a Mamprugu as the Mamprusi chief of Bawku but to say he's the Bawku naaba is problematic. More so we are told there are kusasis who are married to Mamprusis so why can't they resolve their differences and move on. The Bawku conflict is becoming something else as if we are still in the ancient Ghana empire . The NAYIRI is a very old man and he shouldn't be the one seen to be encouraging mayhem. He's making things difficult for his grandson the Vice President. Bawumia a Mamprusi will definitely be uncomfortable in this matter by virtue of his position . I feel sad for him.
