A Motor Traffic court in Accra on Tuesday imposed a fine of 180 Ghana cedis, in default one month imprisonment, on Mr. Dominic Onyeamachi Mwajei, a Nigerian, for violating traffic regulations.
He allegedly failed to enter the travelling details of his Dodge Avenger vehicle in his log book, failed to renew his insurance policy, and was driving with a United States driving license, which is not recognized in Ghana.
Inspector Salifu Abudu told the court presided over by Madam Alberta Amponsah that on January 28, Mr. Mwajei could not produce documents covering his vehicle which were demanded by a police patrol team at Madina.
The Nigerian could not produce the documents and he was arrested and arraigned at court. Mwajei was earlier granted 1,000 Ghana cedis bail with a surety to justify, but he could not meet the condition and he was remanded.
