Residents of Spintex a suburb of Accra has helped in the arrest of a Nigerian who robbed a man in his bid to deposit an amount of GHc1000 at a branch of Barclays Bank at Spintex.
The incident which occurred in front of the Bank had many coming in to assist in trying to arrest all three member gang.
However, two who were seated on a motor bike eloped.
Narrating the incident during Peace FM�s Midday news, a taxi driver (name withheld) said when he realised that the money has been snatched from the man (name withheld); he knocked down the suspect whose name has been given as Chukwu Ebuka Nwiawu; to stop him from running away with the money.
He was then arrested by residents and is now currently in the custody of the Nungua Divisional Police Command.
The District Commander, DSP Patience Akwetey in an exclusive interview with peacefmonline.com indicated that investigations are on-going to arrest the two other suspects who absconded.
She commended the residents who helped in arresting the suspects and encouraged Ghanaians to continue to help the police in fighting crime in the country.
