An Accra Circuit Court on Tuesday remanded Nana Kwenbena Gyan II, Businessman and Martin Osei Lartey, Teacher into police custody for conspiracy, forgery of document and issuance of false cheque.
Nana Gyan and Lartey pleaded not guilty and would re-appear on May 14.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Patrick Morkeh told the court presided over by Mr Francis Obiri, that the complainant in the case was the Area Manager for African Support Network, a microfinance company.
He said in the month of August, the accused persons used forged documents to secure a loan facility of GH ₡120,000.00 from the microfinance company.
The prosecution said Nana Gyan issued a cheque for the repayment of the loan but when it was presented to the Bank, it was dishonoured.
DSP Morkeh said, therefore, the accused persons went into hiding for over a year invading arrest.
He said a report was lodged with the Legon Police and the accused persons were arrested from their hide out.
In their separate cautioned statement, Nana Gyan admitted having issued the cheque but denied knowledge about the forged document, he added.
He said Lartey stated that it was Nana Gyan who asked him to forge the document.
