President John Dramani Mahama has confirmed Joseph Whittal as the new Commissioner for the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ).
Mr. Whittal was sworn-in at a short ceremony at the Flagstaff House Tuesday afternoon.
Mr. Whittal has been acting as the head for the human rights body since the former commissioner, Lauretta Vivian Lamptey was removed for causing financial loss to the state.
The President has also appointed Ms. Josephine Nkrumah as the substantive head of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE).
Ms. Nkrumah who was a deputy chairman for the commission replaces Mrs. Charlotte Osei, who was appointed the head of the country’s Electoral Commission by the President in July last year.
The appointments come a few weeks after the President lost the presidential election to opposition NPP leader Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The president-elect will be sworn-in January 7, 2017.

This man is indeed an apology of a president. He played Ghanaians with his cool demeanor, not knowing he is a murderer, a teaf and a political robber. He has done Ghana bukata with his brother Ibrahim. I pray God forgives him.

any dying creature struggles hard with all the left over strength and energy before death. This is exactly what is happening to Mahama. Thank you Ghanaians for voting massively to throw him out.
This begs the question whether or not an outgoing government after an election remains a caretaker government or a government with full powers. If the latter is true this appointment is still politically unwise. It will lead to suspicions and that may bring tension between the appointees and the incoming administration. On the other hand if the former is true, then one wonders who advises this President? You made these people act all this while, so why the urgency? This President truly was unfit for office. He just lacked the political sophistication.
Gabby just said an injunction has been filed to restrain mahama from making this appointment. This man has the worst advisors.
Why this last minute confirmation of appointments? What have you got to hide? There is nothing hidden under the sun which will not be uncovered.Good riddance to this corrupt, inept and incompetent NDC government.
We will revisit the ford bribe from the contractor to ***barred word***...
why now? because he want to cover his back looking at what has done.
Why now??? This guy was brought in by the NDC in 2012 and was the person who supervised the shameful whitewashing for Mahama over the Ford Scandal. His appointment is to help cover up the rot of the outgoing government. Nana should revoke this appointment!
