The Ghana Police Service has confirmed that the five cars seized from the residence of the National Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Kofi Adams, are not owned by state.
This follows detailed investiations carried out by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Police Service to establish the ownership of the said vehicles.
The Police have since released the cars to Mr Adams Thursday afternoon.
The Public Relations Officer of the C.I.D, ASP Benefo Darkwa confirmed the news to Kasapa News Thursday evening.
“He cooperated with us throughout the investigations and at the end based on the evidence, we’ve come to the conclusion that the cars are not state cars. We’ve returned all the cars to him.”
About 15 soldiers wielding AK 47 assault rifles reportedly stormed the Tema residence of Kofi Adams over a fortnight ago, seized two Land Cruisers and three pick-ups.
The soldiers went to his house in the company of some officials of the Driver and Vehicle Licencing Authority (DVLA) and made away with the vehicles.
Some New Patriotic Party (NPP) activists defended the raid, saying the seized vehicles were owned by the state.

Tuozaafi, stop shifting the post and face the fact. This is a state sponsored thie-very.
Fine, so who owns the cars and how did the owner acquire those cars? Even if the cars were properly acquired, how did the owner get the money to acquire those cars? If this is also legit, then how much taxes did the owner pay to the state? Just establishing that the cars are not state cars is not enough, it is shoddy work by the police. Take the investigation to higher levels so that ill-gotten wealth will be discouraged in Ghana.
