A level 400 student of the University of Ghana died Wednesday morning after allegedly falling from the fourth floor of the Akuafo Hall Annex A residence.
The deceased, 23-year-old Jennifer Nyarko, was an Agriculture and Consumer Science student.
Confirming the incident to Graphic Online, the Legon District Crime Officer, DSP Emmanuel Ofori Anokye said she was pronounced dead at the Legon Hospital after a passer-by found her lying motionless on the floor.
The police said they received the phone call about the incident around 5am and they have started investigations to find out the circumstances which led to her death but speculations were rife on campus that she allegedly jumped.
One of her roommates told Graphic Online that the deceased had been on the phone throughout the night and it was suspected she was talking to a man until she (the roommate) slept off.
DSP Anokye told Graphic Online that the father of the victim has since been contacted but he was yet to report to the police station at the time of filling this report.

oh my goodness. was this intentional or she fell by mistake? what could have pushed her to do this intentionally? what is happening to our women? we only lost one to suicide just a couple of months ago. May we all find comfort in the Lord always. May her soul rest in peace.
What a sad way to lose such an amazing lady. May her soul rest in God's peace. I pray the authorities find out the cause of it all. My condolences to the bereaved family.
What a beauty and human resource that we have lost as a nation. Are lecturers in our higher institutions of learning the cause of these suicide cases? Let us examine this who knows.
THE roommates she was on the phone talking all throughout the night and they left her to sleep. Our youth have gained some abultrust liberty that is overwhelming their psychological state of mind. Control is not answer but building understanding and communication beyond reasoning.
Dear Madam Otiko, Please this is the second suicide news we have read recently and unfortunately, they have all been young women in university. Does this ring a bell? Please kindly find out why this is happening mostly to women. Could it be that they are not able to take the pressure of academics unlike their male counterparts.
***barred word*** is real, people. Profound depression can lead to suicide. We shouldn't blame witches or high fever.
