President Nana Akufo-Addo has commended Justice William Atuguba for supporting new Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo during her vetting and swearing in.
“Let me extend my appreciation to Justice William Atuguba for holding the fort, even if briefly, as Acting Chief Justice during the period of the retirement of Chief Justice Georgina Wood and the swearing into office today of Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo,” Nana Akufo-Addo said on Monday 19 June when he swore Justice Akuffo into office as the new Chief Justice.
“I observed that during the vetting process of Justice Sophia Akuffo in Parliament, on Friday, June 16, he, together with other members of the Supreme Court, were present in Parliament to lend their support to her nomination.
“This was a highly commendable gesture,” the president praised, adding that: “I am hopeful that this same level of support will be extended as she assumes the mantle of head of the Judiciary.”
“To her colleagues on the Bench, and to members of the Bar, I urge your continued solidarity and co-operation with the new Chief Justice to promote the rule of law. That will be in line with the finest traditions of the Bench and the Bar, and will help advance the welfare of our people.”

ATUGUBA WAS THE GOD -SENT NEXT CHIEF JUSTICE WHO WAS NEGLETED BECAUSE OF PARTY POLITICS. A VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE JUDGE GHANA MAY NOT GET AGAIN. HE HAS ALREADY SERVED AND WILL CONTINUE TO SERVE GHANA.
He who fights and runs away lives to fight another day. Mr. Justice William Atuguba would known by now that true justice lies with God, and this justice cannot be manipulated or overturned by man.
The people you meet on your way up the same people you will meet on your way down.... The scales have turned.... Atuguba has seen his smoothness level. Next time be fair and don't allow your political colours to cloud your judgement. Did you regret the judgement you gave on the 2012 election petition?
shame on you
At long last! The battle has ended and Nana Akufo Addo is the President of Ghana and Atuguba should have bowed his head in shame when he met him at the swearing in ceremony but unashamedly raised his head and laughed with the president he ruled against in 2012. When its your time no matter what, God will honour you
TO post goes to family member, once again. Justice Atuguba is very fine man. He will continue to play his role in as a member of the judiciary.
Is that you Atuguba? You remember what you did to me during the election petition? I have forgiven you.
Time changes ampa !!!
I like the posture of JC Atuguba. He demonstrated maturity. He was the Boss of supreme court during 2012 election petition but the tables had now turned. Akuffo-Addo is now the Boss of the country.Time really changes.
