The wife of the Dansoman SDA District pastor, mother-in-law and three children were Sunday burnt to death in a fire outbreak at their home, at Dansoman Akokofoto in Accra.
Graphic Online gathered that the incident happened between 5 and 6am on Sunday August 19, 2018.
Pastor Ato Kessie, the Dansoman District pastor of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church was not in the house at the time the incident happened.
Pastor Kessie had reportedly gone for a camp meeting, leaving the wife and their two children together with a third child - a niece of Pastor Ato Kessie - who was in the house with the pastor's mother-in-law, Graphic Online gathered.
All five of them were burnt to death in the house which is near the Methodist University.
Pastor Ato Kessie, is also the assistant communication director of the Accra City Conference of the SDA Church and son of retired Conference President, Pastor Anthony Kessie.
The cause of the fire is yet to be identified.
The late Mrs. Kessie was a teacher at Valley View University (VVU) basic school.

Elements of fire protection that can minimize loss of life and property include use of non-combustible building materials, use of fire-resistive building assemblies, installation of automatic detection devices and sprinklers, electrical safety and development of improved firefighting techniques. I think the government should implement a law/policy for every existing building (eg. Markets, homes, schools, hospitals, industries, offices, etc) in Ghana to be upgraded for fire safety. Building owners/occupants should be required by law to install automatic fire sprinklers, fire alarms, fire extinguishers, and Arc Fault Detection Devices (AFDDs) in their buildings. Automatic fire suppression systems control and extinguish fires without human intervention. When fires are extinguished in the early stages, loss of life is minimal since 93% of all fire-related deaths occur once the fire has progressed beyond the early stages. People should be encouraged to paint their buildings with fireproof paint, and use fire-partitioning materials in their buildings (examples of fire partitions are firewalls, fire-rated doors, fire resisting ducts or dampers, fire rated ceilings, etc). Only certified electricians must be permitted to wire buildings and the government should implement electrical safety education/ fire safety education on our televisions stations as well as various radio stations.
