The Ministry of Health and the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) have agreed to enhance consultation in the implementation of Drones for Medical Supply Project.
The decision was taken after a meeting between the Ministry of Health, Ghana Health Service, the Ghana Medical Association and Zipline under the Chairmanship of the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on Wednesday.
A statement signed by Mr Pius Enam Hadzide, the Deputy Information Minister, and copied to the Ghana News Agency, said this following the passage of the Ministry of Health’s Drones for Medical Supplies Agreement by Parliament and the subsequent call by the GMA for the suspension of the project to allow for further consultation.
It said the discussions were very fruitful and it was agreed that the Ministry of Health and Ghana Health Service would engage in enhanced consultations with the GMA and other stakeholders in the implementation of the Drones for Medical Supplies Project.
The meeting was attended by Mr Kwaku Agyeman Manu, the Minister of Health, Dr Nsiah Asare, the Director-General of Ghana Health Service, Dr Frank Ankobea, the President of GMA, Dr Frank Serebuor, Vice President of GMA, Dr Justice Yankson, Secretary of GMA, and Mr Daniel Baffuor of Zipline.

But things happen in Ghana that beats human understanding. Dr Nsiah Asare and most of the Chiefs' in MOH are all members of the GMA, how come it never occurred to them to engage their own Association. Our zeal to do good things should not cloud our minds about the basics. Now next to rear their ***barred word*** head will be the Pharmaceutical Society Of Ghana. I'm sure they have also not been engaged. But how can you talk about drugs and not engage Pharmacists? You don't need a Phd to before you can reason this way. Haaaba!
Shame on this crop of GMA, please let us disentangle ourselves from ign*orance and move on to the world! haba! I don't think such a useful thing would have been rejected by Doctors of the civilized world who are abreast with technology! why did these doctors reject and pharmacies didn't? is it because of their own interest or what? evil intentions and politics must be out of our health system! a family member of those doctors who opposed could be in a distress moment when medication is needed immediately in their villages and these drones could be of good help. I don't blame them they might not even know what it is and the use of it since it is a new technology in Ghana!
